Comedy Thriller | Australia 1979 | Director Peter WEIR

''The Plumber'' which Mr. Weir wrote and directed, is both comedy and nightmare. It watches the title character arrive insolently at the household of two thin-skinned academic types who haven't summoned him, and follows the process by which he dismantles their bathroom and drives them half-mad. The story begins innocently enough - despite such ominous shots as that of the plumber's black-gloved hand pressing an elevator button - when this bedraggled longhair arrives at the door and persuades the young wife (Judy Morris) that her bathroom needs fixing. Soon, though, she suspects there may be something amiss. Strange noises are coming from the bathroom, the sound of someone singing. She begins to suspect the plumber may be taking a shower.

Like the previous album Photo-Finish, Top Priority is a return to hard rock. The ballads, acoustic and folk influences that were seen on albums such as Calling Card are replaced by more conventional but powerful blues rock.

Maximum iration on this latest compilation from Kingston Sounds, which shines a spotlight on the Rockers Sound (aka Steppas),whic was created during mid 70’s sessions by The Revolutionaires band at Channel 1. Drummer Sly Dunbar came up with a new ‘Militant’ style double drumming on the snare drum that seemed to add some credence to the political /Rasta based lyrics that were so prominent around this time. For this compilation, Kingston Sounds have pulled together some of the best cuts from this period when producer Bunny Lee was on the top of his game and the sound in town to get on board with was ‘Rockers’… So sit back and enjoy another period in Reggae’s history that still sounds as good as when it was created way back when… EVERYTHING ROCKERS….

One of the best-known players of the post-Coltrane generation, Texas tenor saxophonist Billy Harper earned his spurs with Art Blakey, Randy Weston, Gil Evans, and Max Roach. Bassist Wayne Dockery gained recognition through his work with Art Blakey; trumpeter Everett Hollins’ roots are grounded in rhythm and blues including work with the legendary Otis Redding, and pianist Armen Donelian worked with jazz giants Lionel Hampton and Sonny Rollins.

In 1979 Art Pepper was recorded at two sessions that yielded two fine albums, So In Love and The New York Album. There was more first-rate material recorded in those two sessions than would fit on two LPs so difficult choices had to be made as to what material not to include on the albums released at the time. Those choices were not necessarily made on the basis of the quality of the performances but with respect to such considerations as length and congruence of repertoire within an album.
