Stan Getz Quartet Live in Paris is a live album by saxophonist Stan Getz which was recorded France in 1982 but not released on the French Dreyfus Jazz label until 1996. Joining Jack Teagarden’s big band at the age of 16, tenor saxophonist Stan Getz went on to forge a solo career marked by innovation, consistency, and even a few hits. While Getz was known in the jazz community as a player with a rounded, “cool” sound, he is best known for his bossa nova period of the early and mid 1960s, which included the hit “Girl from Ipanema”. His career also featured noteworthy collaborations with the likes of Bill Evans, Chick Corea, and Chet Baker.
