Pete Namlook was one of the most influential protagonists of ambient music during the 1990s. Inspired by Oskar Sala, one of the pioneers of electronic music, Namlook focused on the untapped potential of analogue synthesizers, often developed or extended in his laboratory. David Moufang is a German ambient techno musician. He records with his partner, Jonas Grossmann as Deep Space Network project and his solo releases as Move D.

With the first 4Voice back in 1992 Fax innovated trance music by adding massive melodic and harmonic structures to pure minimalistic 4/4 beat oriented music of this time. 4Voice III is a further chapter in this musical area with a high impact of beat oriented ambient sounds. Dedicated to "The Place of Mankind" in the vast universe, this recording has a strong concept character, and drives through space from ambient to trance to lounge and back to trance music.

The ever-prolific Pete Namlook embarks on yet another collaboration; this time out with Jonah Sharp (aka Space Time Continuum). The results on this two-track double-disc are nothing less than transcendental, and the two have found a good balance between urgency and ambience up in Sharp's San Francisco studio. Disc one, a single piece called "Interdimensional Communication," pulses along with analog warmth and gloom as if it were the background music to a great sci-fi novel. The second disc, titled "A Long and Perilous Voyage," proves that no song is too long if it has a good groove, and vaguely tips its hat to the sort of ambient work that Brian Eno has been doing for years…

This first collaboration of Pete Namlook and Gabriel Le Mar is a perfect combination of two worlds in Chill-Out and Ambient. While both artists have composed and released electronic music for over a decade, each followed a different path. While Namlook was often more on the beatless path of deep instrumental music, Le Mar had a strong connection to dub music and percussive content. Both developed their personal style and now combined their ideas to a perfect match in music. Percussive, melodic, organic monochrome, even a minimalistic electro-techno track is part of this album. The variety of unique organic music with its intense quality, makes you listen to it over and over again.

Bill Laswell & Pete Namlook - Psychonavigation (1994)  Music

Psychonavigation is a trip and a half. Pete Namlook and Bill Laswell have created a set of sonic hallucinogens that permeate the psyche. These sequences and atmospheres are full of experimental sounds, strange samples, and overt space music riffs. There is nothing earthly about this music. The atmospheres are inhuman. The evocations are metallic and robotic. The flow, however, is smooth and fluid. Namlook and Laswell are visiting the ultimate oxymoron – fluid metal. The answers are as mysterious as quicksilver itself. This is one of the best Namlook/Laswell collaborations. It will appeal to fans of Amani, Tales, and Dweller at the Threshold. It is essential space music.

Create (1994). Create is the second of the four collaborations between Namlook and Charles Uzzell-Edwards. It is one of those long, single-track Fax albums, conveniently indexed every five minutes or so. It starts out in a rather dark and sinister fashion, with a lot of rumbling and some extremely distorted voices just about audible in the background. It continues this way for the next fifteen minutes or so with various other clicks and static interference washing in and out of the of the left and right channels. By the time the fourth track rolls around the beginnings of some more atmospheric drones start to make themselves felt and we slowly drift off into deep space territory of the kind found on Shades of Orion 2…
