Focus ‎– Moving Waves
Vinyl | LP Cover (1:1) | FLAC + cue | 24bit/96kHz
Label: Sire ‎/ SAS 7401 | Release: 1971 | Genre: Symphonic-Rock

Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music.
I remembered way back as a kid hearing "Hocus Pocus" on the radio, this must be around 1979 or 1980, on the FM dial. Around 1989, I heard this song again and found out it was "Hocus Pocus" and the group was called FOCUS. I thought that was silly to have a song title that rhymes with the group's name. I thought it was a rather ingenious mixing of heavy metal and yodeling.
When my interest in prog rock was on the rise around the early '90s, I was wondering if it was worth trying FOCUS, and once I got to hear "Moving Waves", I was not disappointed.

wikipedia:
Focus II (more known under original title Moving Waves) is the 1971 second album by Dutch band Focus. It includes the hit "Hocus Pocus" featuring yodelling and operatic falsetto from Thijs van Leer combined with Jan Akkerman's guitar. Even though the sound of the album was highly experimental for the time, it became very successful peaking at #9 in the Dutch Top 40 and later becoming popular in the United States, with "Hocus Pocus" raised at a #9 position[citation needed] on the Billboard Hot 100, and a #2 position in the UK Albums Chart.

Forty-five years after her death, Mahalia Jackson remains the world's most famous gospel singer. "Moving On Up A Little Higher" explores Mahalia's roots, as she performs hymns of her childhood and reunites with her mentor, Thomas A. Dorsey. These performances date from 1946 to 1957, when Mahalia's voice was at it's golden best. Highlights include the only known recording of Mahalia, accompanied by Thomas A. Dorsey, two live versions of her first and greatest hit, "Move On Up A Little Higher" and two of her most important concerts: a 1951 symposium that introduced her to a larger, interracial public and the 1957 Newport Jazz Festival concert.
