Cardboard sleeve (mini LP) reissue from Michael Jackson featuring 2009 digital remastering. Part of a five-album Michael Jackson Cardboard sleeve (mini LP) reissue series featuring the albums "Off The Wall," "Thriller," "Bad," "Dangerous," and "History." Also includes application card (valid only in Japan). The downside to a success like Thriller is that it's nearly impossible to follow, but Michael Jackson approached Bad much the same way he approached Thriller – take the basic formula of the predecessor, expand it slightly, and move it outward. This meant that he moved deeper into hard rock, deeper into schmaltzy adult contemporary, deeper into hard dance – essentially taking each portion of Thriller to an extreme, while increasing the quotient of immaculate studiocraft. He wound up with a sleeker, slicker Thriller, which isn't a bad thing, but it's not a rousing success, either. For one thing, the material just isn't as good.

IMMORTAL takes a fresh, creative approach in redesigning and reimagining more than 40 of Michael Jackson's greatest original recordings into a compilation that allows listeners to experience his music in an entirely new way. The album is the musical tapestry for Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour. The project was led by esteemed musical designer, Kevin Antunes (Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Madonna). After spending a year in the studio working with Michael's original multi-track master recordings, Kevin created IMMORTAL which offers listeners a new soundscape to Michael's artistry while preserving the power and familiarity of his unparalleled voice and his legendary tracks.

Drummer Chico Hamilton, who is still going strong at age 91, is a truely unique visionary. In 1955, when jazz was beginning to flourish in many different directions, Hamilton made history by adopting an entirely new quintet format which includes a single reed instrument, guitar, cello, bass and drums. The cellist Fred Katz, who would mostly play with the bow, was considered as one of the "front" players. Youg reed player Paul Horn was the second horn player of the group who replaced the inaugural member Buddy Collette. The main part of this compilation album, released in 1963, is the four tracks (Track 5 through 8) by that edition of the Chico Hamilton Quintet. The rest are taken from two earlier recording sessions. Tracks 1 and 2 were recorded in 1956 and features Hamilton's trio with the young Jim Hall, who was 25 years old at the time, and George Duvivier. Tracks 3 and 4 were recorded in 1954 with Howard Roberts and Duvivier.

Helen Merrill - Dream of You (Japan Edition) (1956/1988)  Music

One thing that set Helen Merrill apart from other '50s jazz singers was her acutely dramatic vocal style. Her earnest phrasing, elongated notes, and incandescent tone might even strike the contemporary listener as qualities more appropriate for the Broadway stage than a jazz club. On 1955's Dream of You, though, Merrill found reconciliation, sounding both melodramatic and swinging within Gil Evans' darkly spacious, yet economical arrangements. Suitably, torchy ballads are prominent. On the somewhat grandiose side there's "Where Flamingos Fly" and "I'm a Fool to Want You," which find Merrill in a pensive mood amidst a variety of tempo and timbre shifts.

Basically Young's Savoy Master Takes, Blue Lester finds the svelte tenor innovator on a prime mix of sides from 1944 and 1949. As was the trend of most swing soloists by the mid-'40s, Young heads up a few different extended combos here, featuring the likes of pianist Johnny Guarnieri, trumpeter Jesse Drakes, drummer Cozy Cole, and old Basie bandmates Freddie Green and the Count himself. The numbers with Basie are particularly good, especially "I Don't Stand a Ghost of Chance With You" and "Back Home in Indiana." And for the topper, Young is heard in the company of the entire Basie band (Clyde Hart is on piano, though) for the three tracks that close things out. Not a bad place to start your Lester Young collection.

Kaneko Aska is a female violinist. She wants to use Aska for her name. Of course, Aska is same to Asuka. As of 2005, she has released for solo albums each different in style from each other. The most progressive album is her first Multi Venus which is close to Jean-Luc Ponty. But other albums are not absolutely different. The 2nd, Shinwa no Jidai - Twelve Myths is close to ethenic Asian traditional music. Her 3rd album Mother is entirely different from rock music while her 4th album Betweenness … is non-genre music of violin + piano. Progressive but not rock.
