Ivar Avenue Reunion were a one-time blues band which featured Neil Merryweather, Lynn Carey, Charlie Musselwhite, Barry Goldberg, John Richardson, Robin Boers, and J. J. Velker. Merryweather, Richardson, and Boers had recorded an album together on Kent Records and thought it would be a great idea to work together again, thus the "reunion". They brought in a few more artists to help, including Merryweather's wife Carey. Their name came after the street where they recorded the album at, RCA Records in Los Angeles (the studio was on the corner of Sunset Boulevard & Ivar Avenue.) This is from the only CD release of this album on Mandala in 2009.

This album was the debut of Uriah Heep, an English band that would become one of the Titans of the '70s heavy metal sound. Despite their eventual hard-rocking reputation, Very 'Eavy…Very 'Umble finds the band trying on different stylistic hats as they work towards finding their own sound…

While driving one evening, Harold Pelham appears possessed and has a car accident. While on the operating table, there even appears to be two heartbeats on the monitor. People claim they have seen him in places that he has never been. Does Pelham have a doppelganger - or is he going insane?

Genre: Straight-Ahead Jazz, Post-Bop

The music on this CD has been reissued many times, most recently in 1997. By 1970, pianist Ahmad Jamal's style had changed a bit since the 1950s, becoming denser and more adventurous while still retaining his musical identity. With bassist Jamil Nasser (whose doubletiming lines are sometimes furious) and drummer Frank Gant, Jamal performs two originals (playing over a vamp on "Patterns"), the obscure "I Love Music" and four jazz standards. Intriguing performances showing that Ahmad Jamal was continuing to evolve.

Derived from the "RCA Victor" period of the violinist, this collection dates from 1970 and presents the sympathetic quartet of Grappelli, made up of collaborators entirely dedicated to the art of the violinist. Marc Hammeler (piano) is inventive, Jack Sewing (double bass) has a warm sound, and Kenny Clarke, on drums, unveils a talent already known. He even joins a piano to accompany Grappelli on a very beautiful "Body and Soul".

Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music
Cressida’s short career will be unfortunately unnoticed, despite having a lot of trumps in their hands. Just two albums, but both fetching small fortunes (partly due to the fact that they were released on Vertigo’s Swirl label), but the music quality is simply excellent on both records although there are very notable differences between them.

Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection
What a mindblowing debut-album this is! The very melodic and harmonic music from this five-piece band is based upon an incredible dynamic and propulsive rhythm-section and splendid, very exciting Hammond organ work, often accompanied by a powerful and fiery electric guitar. The interplay between the musicians is magnificent and the excertions on keyboards and guitar are very compelling, in the spirit of the late Sixties and early Seventies.
