Soft Machine were one of first and one of the greatest jazz/rock bands of all time. Their importance and influence was especially great in Europe, where they influenced several generations of bands, and their influences can still be heard to this day in bands like Jaga Jazzist and beyond. Grides presents the most famous version of the band (Elton Dean, Hugh Hopper, Mike Ratledge, Robert Wyatt) recorded live at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on October 25, 1970, in a high-quality, previously unreleased recording, just a few months after the release of Third and at the peak of their popularity.

It all started when Janne was recording his third Mountain of Power album “Volume Three”. He decided to merge the two songs “Kryptonite” and “Give It Everything We Got” by Neil Merryweather. Janne got in touch with Neil, asking if he thought it was ok. It ended with Neil singing two tracks on the album (not his own songs, though).

Ivar Avenue Reunion were a one-time blues band which featured Neil Merryweather, Lynn Carey, Charlie Musselwhite, Barry Goldberg, John Richardson, Robin Boers, and J. J. Velker. Merryweather, Richardson, and Boers had recorded an album together on Kent Records and thought it would be a great idea to work together again, thus the "reunion". They brought in a few more artists to help, including Merryweather's wife Carey. Their name came after the street where they recorded the album at, RCA Records in Los Angeles (the studio was on the corner of Sunset Boulevard & Ivar Avenue.) This is from the only CD release of this album on Mandala in 2009.

Lively, ambitious, almost entirely successful debut album, made up of keyboard-dominated instrumentals ("The Barbarian," "Three Fates") and romantic ballads ("Lucky Man") showcasing all three members' very daunting talents. This album, which reached the Top 20 in America and got to number four in England, showcased the group at its least pretentious and most musicianly – with the exception of a few moments on "Three Fates" and perhaps "Take a Pebble," there isn't much excess, and there is a lot of impressive musicianship here. "Take a Pebble" might have passed for a Moody Blues track of the era but for the fact that none of the Moody Blues' keyboard men could solo like Keith Emerson.

Features the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD player) and the latest 24bit 192kHz remastering. Odyssey of Iska was the outcome of the second recording session with Shorter that was produced by Duke Pearson (Nevertheless Moto Grosso Feio was issued not until 1974.) Despite Ron Carter there was a completely different line-up, although with a similar instrumentation: beside Shorter on saxophones there was no further reed or horn, also no keyboards, but a guitarist, two double bass players (Carter plays also cello on the prior session) and two, respectively four musicians on various percussion instruments including marimba and vibraphone.
