The connection between singer-songwriter Andrea Janser and her new group ‘Mr. Lunatic’ has resulted in a fresh, musical lust for life and simply buzzes with excitement. For five days in the French Alps near Gap, the 5-piece group secluded themselves happily into recording their new album which reflects their own personalities and illustrates a new depth and a sense of heartbreak at the same time. The many facets of Ms. Jansers’ art are reflected in her self-penned compositions which have a sense of unity but cannot be boxed in any one category. These soul sounds take turns with the roots of Swing, melodies from the Balkans, rhythms from the 1920’s, South American melodies in 7/8 time, a big dose of R & B and a dash of Rock n’ Roll. The band is a little bit crazy and over the top with boundless enthusiasm and risk-taking, but this is music from the heart that will certainly touch your heart. Keep on Lovin’…

"West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum" is the third studio album by British indie rock band Kasabian, which was released in June 2009. It is also the first album by the band to not feature Christopher Karloff, the band's lead guitarist and songwriter, following his departure during the writing stages of Kasabian's second album, Empire. The rhythm guitarist Sergio Pizzorno took over as the main force behind the band's song writing and also forced as lead guitarist to replace Karloff's duties. The album name is not related to the Sydney suburb of West Ryde in New South Wales, Australia. The album was nominated for the 2009 Mercury Prize. In October 2009, it was voted the best album of the year by Q Magazine.

Welcome to Wish You Were Here, the latest mix of new progressive sounds that accompanies issue 80 of Prog. It's a delightfully mixed bag this month. Brit proggers IT and Jouis weigh in with lengthy and wonderfully structured epics, while Galahad, Koyo, Circus and Aisles lessen the bombast for something more gentle and distinctly melodic. It's always good to hear music from Mariusz Duda, and here he offers something from his forthcoming fifth Lunatic Soul album Fractured. The Longing and Serpentyne mix muscular rock with a folky edge.

Lennie Wright from Web and Samurai produced Brainchild's first and only album, so it's no surprise that "Healing of the Lunatic Owl" is in a similar style to both "I Spider" and Samurai's self-titled album. That means early 70's progressive rock dominated by horns and organ. Brainchild is a septet that recorded their sole album Healing Of The Lunatic Owl in western London in 1970 on the A&M label. The album contains sizzling brass rock, which must rank among the best of the genre, but also with the much more obscure and even more brilliant Warm Dust and Galliard. Brainchild's line-up was basically your standard prog quartet, plus a three-man wind instrument section, including flute, sax, trumpet and trombone.
