Liquid Tension Experiment 2 is the second studio album by instrumental rock/progressive metal supergroup Liquid Tension Experiment, released on June 15, 1999 through Magna Carta Records.
Liquid Tension Experiment is the self-titled first studio album by instrumental rock/progressive metal supergroup Liquid Tension Experiment, released on March 10, 1998 through Magna Carta Records. The group was composed of Dream Theater bandmembers John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess and Mike Portnoy, as well as bassist Tony Levin. Track six, "Chris and Kevin's Excellent Adventure", is named after the photo sessions for the album in which the photographer kept calling Portnoy "Chris" and Levin "Kevin", whilst "Three Minute Warning" refers to Levin's frustration with his bandmates' insistence on composing rather than spontaneous jamming, and thus his ultimatum to leave the studio within three minutes unless they started to jam.
The Liquid Tension Experiment Box Set is the ultimate souvenir of Liquid Tension Experiment's 10th Anniversary Reunion Tour. Included in this deluxe package are both the NYC and LA shows in their entirety (on both CD and DVD), as well as the Liquid Trio Experiment 2 CD and two items that are exclusive to this set and will not be available separately: Live In LA on Blu-ray Disc and a bonus CD of all of the improv jams from the other LTE 2008 shows.
This DVD documents Mike Portnoy's innovative drumming in the highly acclaimed fusion/progressive metal music of Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment.
