The three-disc, 50-track collection 50 Plus Belles Chansons is an excellent compilation of material from throughout Alain Bashung's three decade career. It contains all the hits and some well-chosen live and album cuts. It is both an excellent introduction to the artist and a seamless listening treat for fans.

Les transformations géométriques, notamment, s'étudient plus aisément avec les outils matriciels. …
The 5 CD Box Set are presented in a roughly chronlogical order, with most tracks grouped by album, to provide a spectacular timeline of his career. Several of his albums are presented in near complete form–in the case of "Histoire de Melody Nelson," the whole thing is included on here. I would highly recommend this album to anyone who loves Gainsbourg but doesn't want to have to hunt down all of his albums individually.
Extraordinary collection of Mouskouri recordings from many years. She sings in many languages, especially French, German, English, and her native Greek - and she makes all of them sound wonderful. In fact, she sometimes sings a song written in one language in another with intriguing effect: e.g., La Vie en Rose in German as Schau Mich Bitte Nicht So An. Many of the songs are very well known, such as Plaisir d'amour, Les trois cloches, Amapola, the Habanera from Carmen, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Changes Everything, Schubert's Ave Maria, &c. All are at least interesting, most are lovely.
