This box set delivers both a little more and a little less than it promises – though the packaging is so cryptic that it's difficult to say precisely what it does promise. Billed as The Pye Album Collection, it contains ten nicely packaged mini-LP sleeves (each with an appropriate inner sleeve to protect the CD – are you listening, Sony Classical, Rhino Handmade, and Hip-O Select?) representing the group's ten original albums for Pye Records.

Limited six disc box set from the British rockers. This release is collated from all of the BBC owned Kinks recordings that still exist in the archive and charts the inexorable rise of the band: from the first steps on the Pye label, to the glory days as one of the greatest acts of all time. The BBC gave the band a platform and support at crucial stages in their career and The Kinks At The BBC could be seen essentially as an alternate Greatest Hits, a musical growing up in public. This incredible archive represents a great set of previously unreleased recordings in the Kinks catalog.

Although they weren't as boldly innovative as the Beatles or as popular as the Rolling Stones or the Who, the Kinks were one of the most influential bands of the British Invasion. Like most bands of their era, the Kinks began as an R&B/blues outfit. Within four years, the band had become the most staunchly English of all their contemporaries, drawing heavily from British music hall and traditional pop, as well as incorporating elements of country, folk, and blues.

The Kinks’ Ray Davies was the ’60s’ master storyteller and ’70s’ arch-conceptualist, and helped inspire punk as an uncompromising outsider icon. Then, in 2004, he was shot in New Orleans and could have easily died. This month, he tells all to MOJO magazine, while his songs make up our free CD: The Kinks’ classic 1967 album, Something Else, covered song-for-song, by Ty Segall, Gaz Coombes, Nada Surf, Mick Harvey and more. Also in the issue: Neil Young, Thin Lizzy, Madness, The KLF, Blondie, Magnetic Fields, Anohni, Ian Hunter, Elbow and The Stray Cats. It’s a Kornukopia.

Misfits is the English rock band The Kink's sixteenth studio album. The record is part of the group's second coming during the late 1970's and early 1980's, taking a turn for the better after the group's earlier, less successful concept albums. The 1978 album features US top 40 hit "A Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy".

Give the People What They Want is the eighteenth studio album by the English rock group, The Kinks. It was released in August 1981 in the US, but was delayed until January 1982 in Europe. It was delayed because Ray Davies wanted to produce a full length video for the album, but financing fell through. Also scrapped were plans to remix the album for the European market. The album was initially aimed to be a statement on the media.
