The cover of this eight-disc EMI set proclaims Walter Gieseking to be the "Poet of the Piano," and perhaps he was when these recordings were made in the early '50s. Certainly, there's plenty of poetry in his playing here, with deep beauty in his touch, warm colors in his tone, and tremendous imagination in his interpretations.

Dean Martin brought such an easygoing “I’m-just-doing-this-because-I-like-to-do-this” style to the songs he sang that it’s easy to miss how good and how distinctive he was as a vocalist. He warmly glided and purred through his performances, working the phrasing in the songs he did until they sounded perfectly suited for him. He didn’t try to be definitive. He just turned everything he sang into a Dean Martin song.

Icon is the fourth studio album by British heavy metal band Paradise Lost in 1993. It marked a departure from the death-doom sound of their early work, and was the last album to feature Matthew Archer on drums. Deep, powerful and dizzying riffs punctuate the album on the whole, and the enormous production only reinforces them, turning slow anthems like "Joys of the Emptiness" and "Colossal Rains" into inescapable haunters.

John Wetton and Geoff Downes offer an acoustic DVD filmed for a broadcast special at TV studios during October 2005. Stripping bare a selection of their classic songs, John and Geoff demonstrate how they originally sounded around the piano, accompanied by acoustic guitar or acoustic bass. ELO's Hugh McDowell joins them on cello and the three virtuosos clearly enjoy the opportunity to relax while performing in front of the cameras. John and Geoff are subsequently interviewed by BBC stalwart, Big George. John and Geoff are clearly excited about their future plans for a 2nd Icon studio album and they talk candidly about becoming and being the major creative influences behind the world's biggest selling album of 1982. Asia was the last real "supergroup". At the time of recording this broadcast, they were keeping quiet about the plans for a 25th anniversary reunion of the founder members of Asia, including Steve Howe and Carl Palmer, which were publicized in February 2006.
