Best-known for his work with Deep Purple, Glenn Hughes doesn't rest on his laurels on his first solo album in eight years, Resonate. In addition to his tight live band, Hughes is joined by friend and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith on the opening and closing tracks. Resonate might well be the heaviest of Hughes's solo albums, but as is his trademark, musical diversity shines through, blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. "It’s heavy in content lyrically and it’s musically heavy, but it’s got a lot of groove … I think it’s quite dramatic … there’s a lot of light and shade. But the emphasis is really heavy grooves and that’s what I write … everybody needs to know that this is absolutely a return to rock music as a solo artist for me…

Gould as an “incorrigible romantic.” Instead of Schumann, Chopin, or Liszt he selected two unimaginably obscure rarities, referring to Grieg as a personal ancestor (“the composer was a cousin of my maternal great-grandfather”) and to Bizet’s Variations chromatiques as “one of the very few masterpieces for solo piano to emerge from the third quarter of the nineteenth century.”

Glenn Kaiser has released a new cigar box guitar album called "Long Way From My Home". With this being a cigar box guitar album, Glenn has chosen to take this back to a very rootsy sound. You will hear Glenn and his guitars he's built or had built for him. You will hear some from his old "Trimmed & Burning" days. This is classic blues in the delta style.

Night in the City is by Glenn Main’s project ‘ARGH’ so be warned – this is not his usual instrumental electronic music! It is very much in the ‘electronic synth pop’ style of A-ha and Depeche Mode. The 10 tracks are moderately paced and with great vocals and superb production – as you’d expect from Glenn.

Glenn Gould. Una vida a contratiempo, de Sandrine Revel
Astiberri, 2016 | Spanish | CBR | 136 págs. | 67.5 MB

Although pianist Hank Jones gets first billing on this two-disc set from Lone Hill Jazz, it actually contains three complete Tyree Glenn-led sessions that were originally released on LP by Roulette Records as At the Embers, At the Roundtable and At the London House in 1957, 1958 and 1961. Featuring Glenn on trombone and vibraphone running through swing and bop standards backed by a world-class rhythm section of Jones, Milt Hinton and Jo Jones, Quintet/Sextet Complete Recordings makes a fine introduction to an often over-looked and completely professional jazz player.
