Foreigner - Foreigner (1977). Blissful feelings arise at the mere mention of 70s arena rock. It gives listeners the permission to have fun, sing along to aircraft-hangar-size choruses, play air guitar solos, forget about any troubles, recall the experience of a first kiss, and quite simply, rock out. Few albums better instill these pleasures than Foreigner’s 1977 self-titled debut album, a five-times platinum blockbuster chock full of salacious riffs, soaring vocals, edgy beats, and lyrics that practically demand to be shouted…

Analía’s mother sends her to Buenos Aires to deliver some handicrafts. She is expected to return home quickly to the country town where she is to take on her family’s hairdressing salon. But by chance an address mix-up leads her to a Muslim community where she finds herself taking part in a ritual completely unknown to her. She is given several objects which seem to harbour a mysterious message: these include a tunic, a map and a recipe in Farsi. Enthralled by the new world she has entered, Analía decides on the spur of the moment to take on another identity. She rents a room nearby and, coming across the name ‘Habiba Rafat’ in the personal ads one day, chooses this as her new name. She decides to learn how to speak this strange language, pray like a Muslim, find a job and make new friends. She is determined to find out what it means to be somebody else. Director María Florencia Álvarez’s film takes for its subject the invention of a new identity; her protagonist oscillates between her fear of discovery and her fascination for a new and unknown world. When Habi meets a young Lebanese man she finds herself obliged to make her next big decision.

"My Darling is a Foreigner" tells the quirky story of a Japanese woman and an American man as they enter into a relationship and eventually marry.
Saori (Mao Inoue) is a manga artist. She meets language geek Tony (Jonathan Sherr), who has arrived in Japan after falling in love with the language. As the couple become closer, Saori is inundated with strange questions about the language from Tony. Are these weird questions a trait of his foreign background? Or is it because of his linguist preoccupation? More importantly, can their relationship survive? Based on the popular manga series "Darling was Gaikokujin." written by Saori Oguri, & first published in 2002.
The manga has sold over 3 million copies. "Darling was Gaikokujin" is based on Saori Oguri's own life with her husband Tony Laszio.
