Propaganda vocalist and latter day solo artist Claudia Brücken (A Secret Wish, Love: and a million other things…) teamed up in 1987 with electronic pioneer Thomas Leer (The Bridge, The Scale of Ten) to create Act: a one-off pop cabaret par excellence. Music so cutting edge, the sessions were documented by Tomorrow's World. And songs that crossed the chasm from mid-Eighties acts of sophistication to late-Eighties acts of dancefloor hedonism. Artwork includes previously unseen photographs of the duo by Patrick Lichfield.
In 1992 one more compilation was released with well-known music from 'The Pink Years' and 'The Blue Years'. Although the name of the CD set is The Story Of Tangerine Dream, the booklet does not contain any story or information on the band or its history besides the track listing. This compilation contains no new material; furthermore, the music material on disc one is absolutely identical to the 1989 Compilation The Best Of Tangerine Dream - just a kind of re-commercialization.
The Elements Of King Crimson is a special limited edition 'tour box' created exclusively for sale at King Crimson's concerts and via the band's official online outlets. The set contains a 24 page tour booklet and two CDs containing extracts, elements from studio recordings, alternate takes, live tracks, rehearsals and finished recordings from 1969 - 2014 (much of it previously unreleased on CD).
With a discography that includes a classic debut album (1984's Welcome to the Pleasuredome), a misguided sophomore effort (1986's Liverpool), and very few B-sides but plenty (like tons) of remixes, compiling Frankie Goes to Hollywood in a one-disc set is easy if you don't over-think it. Knocking the new wave circus act's career with ease, Frankie Said certainly avoids just that….(allmusic.com)
Spandau Ballet are a British band who formed in London in the late 1970s. Initially inspired by the New Romantic fashion, their music has featured a mixture of funk, jazz, soul and synthpop. They were one of the most successful bands of the 1980s, achieving ten Top Ten singles and four Top Ten albums in the UK between 1979 and 1990. Their 2 evergreens are "True" and "Gold" but there are others 'golds' to be dug out from the band. The band split acrimoniously in 1990, but announced their reunion in 2009. This DVD Audio extract of their 1986 performance shows the strength and power in their live music. As far as I'm concerned, even better than their studio recordings.
