Dennis Brown's career went off the boil in the early '80s, until he paired up with Gregory Isaacs in 1984 and recorded two excellent albums, which turned back up the heat. The first, Two Bad Superstars Meet, was produced by Prince Jammy, and it was to him that the singer turned when he came to record 1985's Slow Down, which is now reissued by Greensleeves. By this point, Jammy had established himself at the forefront of dancehall production, but his style worked equally well with roots veterans like Brown himself.

Brandon Stansell is a fresh face onto the Country Music scene, but has always been nearby; honing his craft and finding his voice. SLOW DOWN, his latest EP released in the Fall 2016, is the epicenter of his "California Country” sound. While his casual country sound is appealing, there is more that meets the eye with this crooner of Nashville roots.

Lionel Richie's eighth studio album as a solo artist is led by "I Call It Love," a lightly buoyant and bittersweet single produced by Swedish hitmakers Stargate, the same team that helped boost Ne-Yo's In My Own Words. It's an ideal match, one that should've been made more than once. Too much of Coming Home is merely pleasant – particularly the adult contemporary fare, with the exception of "I Love You" – or too conscious of remaining with the times. While the likes of "Why" and "Up All Night" involved Richie's songwriting in some capacity, just about any twentysomething vocalist could be fronting them…
