Nuthouse is the third full-length album from the Canadian band Haywire, released 1990. 11 tracks including the singles, 'Short End of a Wishbone'/'Push 'N Shove (That's the Way)' & 'Taken the Pain'. From Prince Edward's Island, Canada, Haywire was formed in 1982 by guitarist Marvin Birt, vocalist Paul MacAusland, keyboard player David Rashed and bassist Ron Switzer. After drummer Sean Kilbride joined the band, Attic Records signed them and released Bad Boys in 1986. Haywire has released four albums since: Don't Just Stand There (1987), Nuthouse (1991), Get Off (1993) and Wired: The Best of Haywire (1994).
Ketil Bjørnstad previously explored the life of Edvard Munch in his acclaimed 1993 novel Historien om Edvard Munch. When invited to compose music for choir in 2011 his thoughts turned once again to Munch and to the writings, still not widely known, of the proto-Expressionist Norwegian painter. With these as his guide, Bjørnstad shaped Soloppgang (“Sunrise”) subtitled “A cantata on texts by Edvard Munch”. In his liner notes, Bjørnstad observes that “the texts written by Munch can be compared to his paintings in their power and intensity.
