Advances in the Control of Markov Jump Linear Systems with No Mode Observation (Repost)

Advances in the Control of Markov Jump Linear Systems with No Mode Observation By Alessandro N. Vargas
English | PDF,EPUB | 2016 | 52 Pages | ISBN : 3319398342 | 2.91 MB

This brief broadens readers’ understanding of stochastic control by highlighting recent advances in the design of optimal control for Markov jump linear systems (MJLS). It also presents an algorithm that attempts to solve this open stochastic control problem, and provides a real-time application for controlling the speed of direct current motors, illustrating the practical usefulness of MJLS. Particularly, it offers novel insights into the control of systems when the controller does not have access to the Markovian mode.

Urban Environment, Travel Behavior, Health, and Resident Satisfaction (Repost)

Urban Environment, Travel Behavior, Health, and Resident Satisfaction By Anzhelika Antipova
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 381 Pages | ISBN : 3319741977 | 14.81 MB

This book explores the intersections of urban development, travel patterns, and health. Currently, there is a lack of research concerning the subjective dimensions of accessibility in urban environments and travel behavior, as well as travel-related outcomes. Antipova fills this gap in the scholarship by developing an analysis of satisfaction and perception-related indicators at an intraurban level. Specifically, she investigates various aspects of urban environment from the perspective of resident perception and satisfaction, as well as the relationship between urban environment, travel behavior, activity patterns, and traveler health.

Fire Retardancy Behavior of Polymer/Clay Nanocomposites

Fire Retardancy Behavior of Polymer/Clay Nanocomposites By Indraneel Suhas Zope
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 190 Pages | ISBN : 9811083266 | 13.11 MB

This thesis investigates the early ignition behavior of polymer/clay nanocomposites, which are perceived as potential eco-friendly flame retardant systems. It examines the correlation between clay structural chemistry and high-temperature transformations with clay-assisted decomposition of organic macromolecules. In particular, it investigates the unique effects of metal ions like Mg2+, Al3+ and Fe3+ that are inherent in clays (smectite) on the combustion and thermo-oxidative decomposition of polyamide 6. The results indicate that metal ions present on/in montmorillonite platelets have preferential reactivity towards peroxy/alkoxy groups during polyamide 6 thermal decomposition. Lastly, a simple solution in the form of a physical coating on clay surface is proposed, based on the role of polymer–clay interfacial interaction.

Small State Behavior in Strategic and Intelligence Studies: David’s Sling

Small State Behavior in Strategic and Intelligence Studies: David’s Sling By Patrick C. Coaty
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 177 Pages | ISBN : 3319894463 | 3.71 MB

Small state behavior has been largely ignored by academics in both international relations and strategic/intelligence studies. Yet, when we analyze the root causes of war, insurrections, rebellions, revolutions and general sociological human behavior, it is the small state actors that are usually at the epicenter of the tumultuous event. It is the spark from inside the small state actor – whether it is Serbia, Czechoslovakia, Cuba, Vietnam, Kuwait, Iraq or Syria – that seemingly leads to internal and external confrontations that inevitably involve much larger states. To date, a book length analysis like this has yet to be published.
