Sean Riley joins the Tower King crew from Dallas, Texas, to fix a faulty television antenna. Two thousand feet in the air and weighing several tons, the sheer height and magnitude of this fix make it a challenge even for Riley, a rigger by trade. Using almost a mile of line and a larger-than-life winch, the crew first removes the old antenna and carefully lowers it to the ground. Only then can they lift and attach the new one. This fix comes down to strength, guts and teamwork.

The Arrl Antenna Book 19th Ed
American Radio Relay League | Pages: 810 | 2000-09 | ISBN 0872598047 | PDF | 40 MB

The book is essential for anyone wanting to understand and construct antennas, without a lot of math. It covers HF, VHF, and UHF antennas, along with sections on special-purpose antennas. The only real complaint I have is that the material is not organized in textbook fashion, which often makes information hard to find. For example, information about vertical antenna theory is scattered among three or four chapters. And the book's index is not terribly helpful.

Sounds cool, but what the heck is "vertical soloing" and why would anybody want to learn how to do it? The most commonly accepted definition of vertical soloing is where a musician is focused on playing over individual chords in a progression or tune, rather than playing a scale that is common to all of the chords in the progression (horizontal soloing). Usually the musician is working with the chords' arpeggios, changing from one arpeggio to the next as the chords change, a very common approach for bebop.
