Being hooked on Sherlock Holmes means that the reader may have shelves of related books and consequently about everything said has been said. I will not pinpoint individual stories in this collection, most of which I enjoyed. Only a very few did I find below par and hesitate to name any in either category. We all have different view about Sherlock Holmes and therefore I doubt that the other reviewers and I would agree on every story. I gave this a four star rating rather than a five star rating as there were, as I said, a few I did not care for. As expected there were stories I had read in other volumes, but most I enjoyed reading again.

For the most part, this volume of short Sherlock Holmes pastiches—a mix of straightforward imitations and parodies—delivers on its goal of presenting the best of such work from the last 30 years. All but one of the 28 entries is a reprint, largely from such recent anthologies as Gaslight Grimoire and Shadows Over Baker Street, and many introduce the supernatural into the rational sleuth's world. Stephen King does a solid job of giving Dr. Watson a chance to show his own detective skills in The Good Doctor…
