Robert Moore is a jazz vocalist, composer, trumpet and harmonica player based in Portland. He has evolved a sound uniquely his own, mixing his Southern roots, influences of soul and gospel into his own distinct interpretations of bebop and swinging jazz. Produced by Robert and recorded in high-res digital by innovative engineer Bob Stark, the album combines creative arrangements and outstanding performances by many of Portland’s best musicians in a wide variety of settings from two to twelve. Moore started his singing career in a Southern Baptist church, and that early heartfelt gospel truth can still be heard in the soulful delivery of his music. After stints as a public schools music teacher, he began his performance career, settling in Birmingham, Alabama. After 25 years there, he moved his scene to Portland, Oregon, finding a home and a following among the knowing jazz fans of that musically sophisticated city. His music has steadily grown in depth, passion and honesty during his 60 years on the planet. Robert’s well-seasoned, finelyhoned chops on vocals, trumpet, and harmonica are bringing joy to a wider audience than ever.

The corporate "yes man," the wife-beater, the hot-shot male junior executive and the emotionally distant father are all boys pretending to be men, observe the authors of this liberating guide to self-transformation. Writing within a Jungian framework, they perceive symptoms of "Boycaps per book psychology" all around us–in men's abusive behaviors, passivity and inability to act creatively. To help males become more nurturing and mature, Moore and Gillette identify four archetypes of masculine energies from myth and literature: the Lover, brimming with vitality and sensitivity; the Magician, guider of the processes of inner and outer transformation; the selfless and wise King identified with Adam or primordial man; and the Warrior, whose energies often go awry in destructive activity. Dream analysis, meditation, Jungian "active imagination" and ritual processes are among the tools set forth in a clear, concise map to territories of masculine selfhood. Moore is a professor of psychology and religion at Chicago's Theological Seminary, Gillette is cofounder of the Chicago-based Institute for World Spirituality. Illustrated.

In some ways, Murder Ballads is the record Nick Cave was waiting to make his entire career. Death and violence have always haunted his music, even when he wasn't explicitly singing about the subject. On Murder Ballads, he sings about nothing but death in the most gruesome, shocking fashion…

Keyboardist Kevin Moore will be familiar to fans of modern progressive rock through his work as a former member of Dream Theater and from his solo work under the name Chroma Key; more recently, he has worked with several other prog luminaries in the experimental supergroup O.S.I. But Ghost Book is an almost purely solo endeavor, a soundtrack album consisting of work commissioned by Turkish novelist Dogu Yucal for use in the film adaptation of his novel Havalet Kitap (or "Ghost Book"). Yucel was a longstanding fan of Moore's work in Dream Theater and had quoted some of the band's lyrics in his novel, so the pairing was natural…

Gary Moore's tribute to Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green, Blues for Greeny, is more of a showcase for Moore's skills than Green's songwriting. After all, Green was more famous for his technique than his writing. Consequently, Moore uses Green's songs as a starting point, taking them into new territory with his own style. And Moore positively burns throughout Blues for Greeny, tearing off licks with ferocious intensity. If anything, the album proves that Moore is at his best when interpreting other people's material – it easily ranks as one of his finest albums.

Not wanting to leave a good thing behind, Moore reprises Still Got the Blues on its follow-up, After Hours. While his playing is just as impressive, the album feels a little calculated. Nevertheless, Moore's gutsy, impassioned playing makes the similarity easy to ignore.

A New Orleans musician in every sense of the word, drummer Stanton Moore's main gig is with his enormously popular funk band Galactic but he also plays with a wide variety of other musicians in both club and studio settings. Growing up in New Orleans, Moore was attracted to the thriving music scene, where he absorbed the work of Professor Longhair, Meters drummer Zigaboo Modeliste, and his mentor, Johnny Vidacovich. After meeting founding Galactic members Robert Mercurio and Rich Vogel in the early '90s, Moore played in a series of early versions of the group, including Galactic Prophylactic and the Ivanhoes (in which the band learned a good portion of the catalog of the legendary Meters, New Orleans' founding funk band).
