Basically this album is nothing more than a group of reworkings of some of the biggest hits that Real MCcoy has had. But, still has the power to get anyone on the dancefloor and keep them moving
Most notably the 90s, when Ministry of Sound was born and owned the club sound of that decade. As anyone from the 90’s will testify, the nights were longer, the fashion was cooler and the music was even better. With this in mind, it will come as no surprise that Ministry and bringing back the nostalgia with one of our most popular compilation series to date.

The quintet on this CD (baritonist Hamiet Bluiett, pianist Don Pullen, bassist Fred Hopkins, drummer Idris Muhammad, and Chief Bay on African percussion) was only together for a week, but three CDs resulted from their engagement at the Carlos I club in New York; Mulgrew Miller is in Pullen's place on one of the two other discs. This is a particularly intriguing setting for the great baritonist Bluiett, for even though he is an avant-gardist, he is heard here playing such numbers as "I'll Close My Eyes" (which becomes so romantic at one point that it seems satirical), "Autumn Leaves," and Bluiett's blues "John."
The Real McCoy is the seventh album by jazz pianist McCoy Tyner and his first released on the Blue Note label. It was recorded on April 21, 1967 following Tyner's departure from the John Coltrane Quartet and features performances by Tyner with Joe Henderson, Ron Carter and Elvin Jones. Producer Alfred Lion recalls the recording session as a "pure jazz session. There is absolutely no concession to commercialism, and there's a deep, passionate love for the music embedded in each of the selections".
