After his involvement into many English Melodic Rock bands as both singer and guitarist British singer, song-writer, musician and producer Steve NEWMAN started his solo band with the release of Newman in 1997. "Heaven Knows" fifth studio album and magnificent effort which was almost recorded by Steve NEWMAN himself – with the help of Rob McEwen on drums at Blue Room Studios in Sussex, UK. It just simply gets better!
After over 15 years of hard work and a series of quality albums, Steve Newman has established himself as a highly respected name among the Melodic Rock / AOR fans. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since his self-titled debut back in 1998, so with the album long out of print he and his band NEWMAN have taken advantage of the advances in studio technology since them to re-record the album. This is a Limited Edition, CD only release (500 copies)
‘Siren’ is the tenth studio album from Newman. ‘Siren’ is another killer album from Newman with many songs. It's pretty much everything you want from a melodic rock record including those massive sing-along choruses that we have come to expect from Newman. Steve’s a true unsung hero of the melodic rock genre and has yet again delivered a fantastic album!
The band, with new bassist Dave Bartlett played various shows to support the new album including the Cambridge Rock Festival and, shortly after enlisting the talents of new Guitarist Shaun Bessant, the band were asked to play at the prestigious Firefest Festival that year and a CD/DVD was recorded and released in 2011. … the added ARFM session bonus tracks are a real treat too!
2010 saw the release of "The Art Of Balance", which not only raised the bar sonically it also proved again that Steve Newman has a talent for producing quality hook laden, melodic rock. New studio album "Under Southern Skies" went on to become one of the most successful albums of Steve's career receiving. This is undoubtedly an early contender for album of 2011.
This is the 7th proper studio album from Newman, not including the "Best Of" - Decade. The debut Newman album came out 18 years ago and Steve has definitely honed his craft to create his best work to date. Its British melodic Rock at its finest, full of hooks, huge melodies and some killer musicianship. … simply stunning "The Art Of Balance"!
The concept of "Decade" was to bring to you re-performed and re-recorded songs, both released, and unreleased, from the first 10 years of Newman. CD1 - Compilation + CD2 - Unreleased.
"Primitive Soul" is one that will appeal to guitar-based hard rockers as opposed to the fluffy big pink keyboard brigade. This is an album with layer upon layer of pure AOR heaven and needs to be heard several times over as each spin reveals another gem. The production is huge, the mix perfect. Excellent guitar sound throughout with some great choices of key patches too. "Primitive Soul" is his first album (his sixth in total) that's only available through the online Chrome Dome label and/or some well-selected mail order companies (such as AOR Heaven).
After a 3 year long break, "Sign Of The Modern Times" is the much-anticipated follow up to 2000's "Dance In The Fire" by respected UK Hard Rock veteran Steve Newman who is joined here by bassist Mike Brooke and FM drummer Pete Jupp, who lays down a strong backbeat as you’d expect from such a talented drummer. Added to this Pete Coleman (Black Sabbath/AC/DC) handles production, which has a deep and luxurious sound throughout the album.
The debut by Newman was released in Europe through Point Music as a solo project and was warmly received by critics and fans alike, but the second album "One Step Closer" saw a huge leap forward and establish them as a great melodic rock band. Another year has passed and Steve Newman has been hard at work writing songs for a third album. It's always very hard to surpass an album like "One Step Closer", but not impossible as this album clearly demonstrates.
