On his way to visit his father, a young Nemanja was caught in a heavy rain, so he decides to seek lodging for the night in nearby motel. The place happens to be notorious as a meeting place of bad, dangerous and weird people.
Idealistic young man supports the party and the new Yugoslavia's communist regime, but soon gets involved in various political and criminal machinations becoming more and more confused about what's right and what's wrong.
''Deja vu'' concerns a troubled piano teacher, Mihailo (Mustafa Nadarević), and his efforts to come to terms with reality through a love affair with a poor but industrious girl, Olgica (Anica Dobra). When she dumps him for a younger boyfriend (hoping to make a political career in the Communist Youth organization), Mihailo is overrun by the ghosts of his past and begins a killing spree.
