Middle of the Road is a Scottish pop group who enjoyed success across Europe and Latin America in the early 1970s. Four of their singles sold over one million copies each, and received a gold disc. The tracks were "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" (which went on to sell over 10 million), "Sacramento", "Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum" and "Soley Soley". By early 1972 the group had sold over five million records.

They are a Scottish band who did not find fame until they relocated to Italy, where the majority of their hits were recorded. Although their version of Lally Stott's "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" was an international smash, it was Mac & Katie Kissoon's version of this song that made the U.S. charts. Middle of the Road's version did receive some U.S. airplay, as did Soley Soley (my personal favorite!). I was a big fan of this group in 1971 - 1972 as I used to listen to alot of shortwave broadcasts from European countries. This CD sounds great, and although I already have all but 5 tracks on vinyl, it is great to have all of these songs in one place (and the CD sounds alot better than the records do). This is a must for anybody who remembers this group and for anyone who loves the pop music of the early 70's.

One of those uniquely '70s groups, Middle of the Road were a Scottish pop vocal group whose singles "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep," "Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dum," and "Soley Soley" were huge European hits, selling in the tens of millions. Formed by Sally Carr (vocals), Ian McCredie (guitar), Eric McCredie (bass), and drummer Ken Andrew in 1970 (the group had been playing together since 1967, but under the moniker of "Part Three") Middle of the Road had trouble finding success until they uprooted from the United Kingdom and settled in Italy.

Rockets were a French space rock band that formed in Paris in 1974. Some of the former members had played together since 1970 in a local band called Crystal. In their most successful era (1977–1982) the line-up comprised vocalist Christian Le Bartz, bassist and vocalist "Little" Gérard L'Her, guitarist and keyboardist Alain Maratrat, drummer and percussionist Alain Groetzinger, and keyboardist Fabrice Quagliotti…

Sally Carr's group, with million sellers like 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep', 'Tweedle Dee, Tweddle Dum', 'Soley Soley' and 'Sacramento'. The voice of Sally had that 'something' you cannot forget after all these years. Still when I hear those hits I feel the rhythm and the energy that made them so popular in the early 70's. Hear them again in a nice 'best of' CD.

It goes without saying that The Best of the Byrds: Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 doesn't have as many classic singles as the group's first hits collection, since the Byrds stopped being a singles band shortly after the release of Greatest Hits.
