Williams launched a solo career in 1994 as a soul/dance singer, signed to Columbia Records. Her debut solo single, "All Cried Out!" peaked at No. 60 in the UK Singles Chart. The follow-up, "Everyday Thang", did better, hitting the UK Top 40. It peaked at No. 38. Her next single, the ballad "Not Enough?" managed a No. 65 chart placing. Her debut album, Human Cradle, failed to reach the UK Albums Chart.
Melanie - The Good Book (1971) Buddah Records/BDS 95,000 - First US Pressing - LP/FLAC ONLY Re-Post In 24bit/96kHz

Melanie - The Good Book
Label: Buddah Records/BDS 95,000 | Release: 1971 | Genre: Country-Folk
Vinyl | LP Cover (1:1) | FLAC | 24bit/96kHz & 16bit/44kHz

Featuring "Birthday Of The Rain"
Having found her stride in the studio on 1970s Candles in the Rain, Melanie's 1971 release The Good Book seemed like a case of two steps forward, one step back. The Good Book was recorded while Melanie was at loggerheads with her record label, Buddah Records (Melanie and her husband and studio collaborator Peter Schekeryk would form their own label to release her next LP), and while it doesn't seem to have impacted the craft of the album, the presence of three covers and the frequently dour mood of these songs don't seem to reflect an artist who was entirely at peace with herself.

To say that Chris Walden's instrumental compositions and arrangements are the best part of his new big-band album, Full-On!, is not to dismiss the rest as less than adequate. Walden's charts for the ensemble, on the other hand, do provide much of the excitement in a session that is otherwise dominated by vocals (seven in all), several of which are more overwrought than enlightening.
