Originally broadcast in April and May of 1998, hosted by executive producer Tom Hanks, the miniseries tackles the daunting challenge of chronicling the entire history of NASA's Apollo space program from 1961 to 1972. For the most part, it's a rousing success. Some passages are flatly chronological, awkwardly wedging an abundance of factual detail into a routine dramatic structure. But each episode is devoted to a crucial aspect of the Apollo program. The cumulative effect is a deep and thorough appreciation of NASA's monumental achievement. With the help of a superlative cast, consistent writing, and a stable of talented directors, Hanks has shared his infectious enthusiasm for space exploration and the inspiring power of conquering the final frontier.

The contributors to this collection of essays address children's literature as an art form, rather than an educational instrument, as has been the traditional approach. Scholars from 10 different countries present a variety of approaches to the history of children's literature, including views on sociological, semiotic, and intertextual models of its evolution. Other issues explored include influence and interaction between stories and their countries of origin.

Naked (To The World) is the 1991 debut album by soul vocalist Nicki Richards. Released by Atlantic, she had two hits from the album, "Naked" and a cover of Seals & Crofts' "Summer Breeze" done in the arrangement of The Isley Brothers' version, which did fairly well on the charts. She didn't follow up with a second album quickly and faded into obscurity until releasing a second effort 17 years later, with little to no fanfare. With proper promotion, this could have been one of the best R&B albums of the 1990's.

With more than a few live albums under their belts during an esteemed career, one would think that another live album could only help reinforce the notion that Nazareth are capable of delivering the goods in a live setting just as well as in the studio. That notion is certainly supported here, as Back to the Trenches is a two-disc, 31-song affair that spans the years considered by many to be the band's most crucial in developing its signature sound. The early years of this anthology date back to the early '70s, when the band could be found at the top of its hard-rocking, blues-driven game, and works its way through all of the band's biggest hits before concluding with two songs from a Slough, UK, concert in 1984 a time that would be considered by most of their core audience to be the beginning of the "lean years" for the group. It's a great document for one of AOR's most consistently hard-driving bands, and die-hard fans will be pleased at the quality and quantity (certainly a generous portion for the money) of the Nazareth performances heard here.

Rod Stewart has been mining the Great American Songbook for the better part of a decade, so it would only make sense that he would get a little bit better as time goes by. And, by some stroke of fate, Fly Me to the Moon – the fifth installment in this never-ending series and first since 2005, as Rod spent the back half of the 2000s taking songbook detours into rock and soul – is Stewart’s best album in the entire series…
