Although drummer Pete Magadini is the leader of this set (which was reissued on CD in 1996 with a previously unreleased second version of "Freddie Freeloader" added), it is tenor saxophonist Don Menza who really dominates the music. Menza (along with Magadini, pianist Wray Downes and bassist Dave Young) stretches out on such numbers as "Old Devil Moon," "Solar" and his own "Bones Blues," tearing into the music but also showing senstivity on the ballads. Don Menza should really be recorded much more often.
Hanoi Rocks was a Finnish rock band formed in 1979. They were the first Finnish band to chart in the UK and they were also popular in Japan. The band broke up in June 1985 after the drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley had died in a car accident during their first US tour in December 1984. Original vocalist Michael Monroe and guitarist Andy McCoy reunited in 2001 with a new line-up of Hanoi Rocks until 2009. Although musically closer to traditional rock n' roll and punk, Hanoi Rocks have been cited as a major influence in the glam metal genre for bands such as Guns N' Roses, Skid Row and Poison…
This special edition of the 1976 album will contain new Steven Wilson stereo remixes on CD 1, although this is of the version of the album re-recorded for a TV Special. Only five multi-track master tapes for the actual album could be located and new stereo remixes of those tracks are also appended on the first disc. The second CD consists of a complete flat transfer of the original stereo mix, and eight bonus tracks (seven of which are 2015 remixes). This bonus material includes two unheard songs: Salamander’s Ragtime (not related to album track Salamander), and Commercial Traveller. A third outtake Advertising Man was planned to be included but was not sufficiently complete to merit inclusion.

Impressive and ultimately accessible 20th Century quartets by Welsh composer Daniel Jones (1912-1993) performed with absolute grip and certainty by the Delme ensemble. What is most remarkable in Jones is the wide dispersion of his musical intellect. The seemingly natural variety of his compositional thinking and the depth of his concentration are staggering. And perhaps this is the best way to describe these eight works: complex "concentrations." While not paralleling contemporary downlanders like Bax, Bridge or Simpson, yet venturing much further than the prototypes of Prokofiev, Shostakovich or Bartok, but eschewing ………..
