Kerem Görsev is a Turkish jazz pianist, who plays & composes always faithful to the roots of jazz. This album is also like that; a classic quintet like Horace Silver's; Kerem on piano, Russell Gunn on trumpet, Marcus Strickland on tenor and alto saxophones, Eric Revis on bass, and Alvester Garnett on drums; they play listenable & enjoyable in this album. As all compositions belongs to Kerem, listeners will sometimes feel the nice and soft combination of Turkish modal melodies with American bop sentences; for me, this kind of fusion gives additional colors to the album. Arrangements are also beautiful and cleverly; and the absence I saw in this album is that; recording/mixing/mastering process can be done more sensitively; not an over-compressed album, but sounds some dull. ~O.D.
