The Ink Spots hit the American Top Ten 19 times between 1939 and 1949. Thirteen of those Top Ten hits are among the 20 tracks on this British compilation, along with the chart entries "Java Jive," "Someone's Rocking My Dream Boat," and "(It Will Have to Do) Until the Real Thing Comes Along," and the group's non-hit covers of four other songs, two of them U.S. standards ("I'll Never Smile Again," "It's a Sin to Tell a Lie") and the other two better known in Britain ("No Orchids for My Lady," "We'll Meet Again"). Twenty tracks on a single disc is a generous selection, and most of the Ink Spots' biggest hits are included, even if the collection is incomplete.

Thirteen hours of unreleased and ultra-rare music. The Eternal Myth Revealed is a 14 disc docu-biography of Ra's life and career, from his birth in 1914 up to 1959. In addition to his own music, it includes music he was influenced by, and a lot of stuff he may or may not have had a hand in as arranger, vocal coach, pianist or something else. Sun Ra's output was as prolific as Ellington's, and discographers have had nightmares and arguments attempting to document it accurately.

The four-CD retrospective The Legendary Decca Recordings represented both an attempt to present the essence of Ella Fitzgerald's two-decade tenure at Decca Records and to defend that period against the conventional wisdom that not until she moved to Verve Records in the mid-'50s was her talent given full rein. Divided into four sections, the collection began with "The Very Best of Ella," not exactly a greatest-hits set, though it started with her first big hit, "A-Tisket, A-Tasket," and included such chart successes as "Undecided," "Cow-Cow Boogie," and "Stone Cold Dead in the Market."

The 4 disc set "The Legendary Decca Recordings" is a fantastic collection of 80 songs that Ella Fitzgerald recorded while at Decca records. The earliest material dates from 1938 and goes up to 1955. Let me first state that there is not a bad song in this collection. Some of what you'll hear are standards, some will be lesser known or maybe totally unknown songs, but everything is thoroughly enjoyable. The sound quality is incredible; this material is 45-60 years old, but it might as well have been recorded yesterday. I'm not kidding, it's that good.
