2013 collection of unreleased tracks from the late Country great. Given the opportunity to record a large group of songs that reached far beyond his own best-known works, Buck enjoyed the rare chance to stretch out and have fun performing the hits of other Country singers. Over the course of this collection, pulled from the vast trove of material Buck recorded for Hee Haw, Owens provides us with a concise tutorial on the history of country music. Many of the songs Buck recorded for Hee Haw were originally recorded by some of Buck's biggest and earliest influences like Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, Hank Williams, Jack Guthrie and Hank Snow amongst others.

Crockett pays his dues, honouring the greats with this release and establishing himself as a true-blue country music traditionalist.

Growing up with a single mother in San Benito, Texas, the hometown of Tejano star Freddy Fender was not easy for blues singer Charley Crockett. Hitchhiking across the country exposed Crockett to the street life at a young age, following in the footsteps of his relative, American folk hero Davy Crockett, who also lived a wild life on the American frontier. After train hopping across the country, singing on the streets for change in New Orleans’ French Quarter, busking in New York City and performing across Texas and Northern California, Crockett set off to travel the world and lived on the streets of Paris for nearly a year before searching for home in Spain, Morocco, and Northern Africa.

While heavily influenced by Art Tatum, this performer was hardly considered a heavyweight pianist during his career. Born Louis F. Bush, or Busch depending on the source, the keyboard maestro who would also make heavy use of the stage name of Joe "Fingers" Carr managed to make it into Leonard Feather's Encyclopedia of Jazz, but with the following disclaimer: "A novelty performer rather than a jazz artist." The novelty itself was a kind of heavily sexed-up ragtime piano style that caught on in the very dawn of the hi-fi era. The invention was in sharp contrast to lounge music and would most likely have the opposite effect than a seduction if played in a bachelor pad. Carr began driving his piano this way while working as an A&R man for Capitol. In a brainstorm based on a sharp analysis of current trends, he decided to sign himself up as the mysterious "Fingers."

Polly Adelaide Hendricks Hazelwood, known professionally as Del Wood, was an American queen of the honky-tonk piano. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee. A lifetime resident of Nashville, she was surrounded by the influences of early country music and the remaining vestiges of ragtime, particularly through the guitar pickers. She took up piano at age five, and played ragtime, gospel, and country music. Despite her parent's best efforts to encourage a direction towards classical music, the environment in Nashville, plus the early local programming on radio, convinced her that she wanted to play piano in the honky-tonk style. Her dream goal was the Grand Ole Opry, something she would realize in her early 30s.
