Violinist Joshua Bell and cellist Steven Isserlis are joined by two acclaimed musical forces - pianist Jeremy Denk and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, of which Bell is Music Director – in a landmark joint recording, For the Love of Brahms (Sony Classical). Available September 30, 2016, the new album is a unique project that features works of Brahms and Schumann that Bell calls “music about love and friendship.” Bell, Isserlis and Denk unite here in Brahms’s first published chamber work, the Piano Trio in B Major, Op. 8 in its rarely performed original 1854 version. Isserlis also joins Bell – as violin soloist and director – and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in Brahms’s last orchestral work, the celebrated Double Concerto (for Violin and Cello) in A Minor, Op. 102. Bell, Isserlis and members of the Academy also offer the first recording of an unusual coupling: the slow movement of Schumann’s rarely heard Violin Concerto, in a version for string orchestra made by Benjamin Britten, who also added a short coda.

Wong Kar-Wai's movie about two love-struck cops is filmed in impressionistic splashes of motion and color. The first half deals with Cop 223, who has broken up with his girlfriend of five years. He purchases a tin of pineapples with an expiration date of May 1 each day for a month.

Inspiration for this, the second LP from The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band, is the musical experimentation that has happened at their seminal venue in Bangkok, Studio Lam, and how that has influenced their sound, whether it's the alternative nights featuring individual band members (Paradise Bangkok Rhythm Section, Kammao & friends, Electric Piphat Band) or sets from other artists and DJs like Andrew Ashong, Miles Cleret, Hugo Mendez, Awesome Tapes From Africa, Rabih Beaini, Kirk Degiorgio, and Phuong Dan.

The Polish composer and clarinetist Wacław Zimpel is a musical chameleon. After graduating from a Warsaw conservatory, he traded the rigors of classical music for the improvisational thrills of free jazz. His newest project is LAM. In this trio – which includes also Krzysztof Dys on piano and Hubert Zemler on drums – the main inspiration is the work of American minimalists.

Label: Intercord/INT 160.065 | Release: 1976 | Genre: Irish-Folk

This is one of Clannad's traditional music recordings. The liner notes include a brief paragraph on each of the songs and instrumentals.
Dúlamán is both the name of the recording and the title of the first song. The word is Irish Gaelic for "seaweed". In Ireland certain men made their livings by collecting and selling different types of seaweed, and were frequently nicknamed for the particular types in which they dealt. Dúlamán gaelach is a seaweed used in dying cloth, while dúlamán maorach is an edible variety. The song, sung by the band in Gaelic, records a conversation between two seaweed collectors. Dúlamán Gaelach has a beautiful daughter whom Dúlamán Maorach wishes to marry. Gaelach is not exactly thrilled with the idea of having Maorach as a son-in-law, but Maorach elopes with his daughter anyway.
