Though they ultimately made their name as a blues-rock band, and Peter Green's admiration of artists like Jerry Garcia eventually found its way into their music, Fleetwood Mac began as a straight-ahead blues band. A bunch of Brits devoted to the music of Chicago and the Delta, Green and company couldn't help but put their own twist on the blues, but they were simultaneously reverential towards it. This is the situation presented in this 1968 live recording. While the sound quality is less than stellar, it's good enough to make the guitar talents of Green and Jeremy Spencer obvious, as they work up effective solos over "Got To Move"…

While most bands undergo a number of changes over the course of their careers, few groups experienced such radical stylistic changes as Fleetwood Mac. Initially conceived as a hard-edged British blues combo in the late '60s, the band gradually evolved into a polished pop/rock act over the course of a decade…

Rehearsal Live 1975 is a practice session Fleetwood Mac did before they were to go on tour for their self-titled 1975 album, which would lead to the hits "Rhiannon" and "Landslide". It was recorded at Trod Nossel Studios in Wallingford, Connecticut on 23 September, 1975, is directly from the soundboard and sounds incredible. It sounds as if it was made for an industry recording or a radio show but the crowd sounds limited in size so it seems it was an invite-only performance, perhaps with closest friends or maybe just the roadies. This is the point in the band's history where Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined them, leading to a success that the band had never reached before, but it's not only nice to hear songs from older albums, but also hearing Buckingham sing "The Green Manalishi (With The Two Prong Crown)". Christine McVie becomes a spokesperson for the band during the show while Nicks shows a slight shyness that would slowly loosen up as the group became more popular with their two new members. The band go as far back as 1969 to do "Oh Well". This was released by the Zion label.

In 1992 Fleetwood Mac had reached their 25th year as a band. This {now deleted} 4 CD box set was the half-hearted attempt by the band's record company to celebrate a 1/4 century of the music from the mighty mac, but it lacks a bit of the attack that made them mighty to begin with. Well, there is both good news and bad to report about this box set collection.

Live in Boston is a live album by British blues-rock band Fleetwood Mac. It was recorded over three nights at the Boston Tea Party venue in Boston, between February 5 and February 7, 1970. The recordings were made for a proposed live album, which was to have been released during 1970 but the project was shelved and the tapes remained unreleased until Shanghai Records issued seven songs from the performances as Live in Boston in February 1985. The album was reissued a few months later as "Jumping at Shadows" by Varrick Records and was re-released again in 1989 as "Boston Live" by Castle Communications…
