As M.E. Thomas says of her fellow sociopaths, we are your neighbors, co-workers, and quite possibly the people closest to you: lovers, family, friends. Our risk-seeking behavior and general fearlessness are thrilling, our glibness and charm alluring. Our often quick wit and outside-the-box thinking make us appear intelligent—even brilliant. We climb the corporate ladder faster than the rest, and appear to have limitless self-confidence. Who are we? We are highly successful, non-criminal sociopaths and we comprise 4% of the American population (that’s 1 in 25 people!).
The first solo album by former (and future) Dio guitarist Craig Goldy. Working under the name Craig Goldy's Ritual, the album features two vocalists. Mike Stone provides vocals for about half of the tracks, while Goldy's ex-Giuffria colleague David Glen Eisley sings on the other half. Eisley has such a powerful voice it's no surprise that his tracks far outshine Stone's. The music on Hidden in Plain Sight is not as "metal" as Goldy's Dio work, instead coming across as more of a straightforward hard rock (perhaps hair metal) approach very similar to Giuffria and House of Lords. It's the kind of memorable melodic hard rock that the early 90's were so well known for.
In Plain Sight follows the life of Mary Shannon, a U.S. Marshal in the highly secretive witness protection branch who spends her time relocating federal witnesses – whether notorious criminals or innocent bystanders who found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time – each of whom are wanted dead. Based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mary works side-by-side with her partner, Marshall Mann, who is the polar opposite of herself but a perfect partner nonetheless.
