Though Enrique Iglesias spent four years between albums, one would hardly know it by Sex and Love. No less than four of these 11 tracks were issued as pre-release singles in 2013. Musically, Iglesias walks the line between the dancefloor jams of 2007's Insomniac and the romantic flavor of 2010's Euphoria….

It should come as no surprise that Enrique Iglesias' 2008 Greatest Hits begins in 1999, when he made the leap from the Latin market into the mainstream. All his very successful '90s albums on Fonovisa are bypassed, written off as prehistory, so the spotlight shines only on his English-language singles of the new millennium: the club tracks and syrupy slow songs that gave him a significant number of crossover hits. With the exception of a couple of minor blips on the charts like 2000's "Sad Eyes," all these are here, starting with 1999's "Bailamos" and "The Rhythm Divine," running through 2000's "Be with You" and 2001's "Hero," stopping for 2004's "Not in Love," winding up with 2007's "Do You Know? (The Ping Pong Song)" and wrapping up with two new duets, "Away" with Sean Garrett and "Takin' Back My Love" with Ciara. While this approach may lop off half of his career, it also does exactly what hits collections should do: it gives the casual listener the hits they want to hear and nothing else.

Enrique Iglesias (Spanish pronunciation: [enrike iglesias], born Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler; May 8, 1975) is a Spanish singer-songwriter, model, actor, and record producer. Iglesias started his career in the mid-1990s on an American Spanish Language record label Fonovisa which helped turn him into one of the biggest stars in Latin America and the Hispanic Market in the United States becoming the biggest seller of Spanish-language albums of that decade. He has also credited his niece, Natalia Elisa Iglesias for inspiring him throughout his musical career. He made a successful crossover into the mainstream market and signed a multi-album deal with Universal Music Group for an unprecedented US $48,000,000 with Universal Music Latino to release his Spanish albums and Interscope to release English albums. After three years of tossing and turning in anticipation of a new Enrique Iglesias disc, fans of the Latin superstar may find themselves losing still more sleep over early reviews that take Insomniac to task for straying too far from the sound that launched him to the loverman stratosphere. No need, though. Despite the presence of Lil' Wayne on the ultra-steamy, street-edged "Push" and some unapologetically catchy pop tunes any male singer, ethnicity aside, could have fun with ("Do You Know," for example, and "Tired of Being Sorry," a Ringside re-tread), white-hot machismo and Latin charm permeate Insomniac reliably.

Enrique Iglesias is very definitely a child of the 1980s, and his arena-rock aspirations are prominently displayed on 7. The Latin superstar's third English-language album is filled with fist-pumping choruses, crisp guitar riffs, and rock-tinged pop ditties destined to send fans into serious states of swooning. Aching love ballads occupied much of Iglesias' time on previous efforts, but those are kept to a minimum here. Even the first single, "Addicted," swells with a chorus that seems designed for maximum sing-along potential. Songs such as "The Way You Touch Me," "Break Me Shake Me," "Free," and "You Rock Me" shimmy and sparkle, anchored by Iglesias' ever-improving, always sexy vocal delivery. It makes for a vibrant mix of music, and it will be nearly impossible to resist singing along with more than a few of these gems even after one listen. Rock on.
