The primary goal of these lecture notes is to provide an introductory and unified account of "context-free" form theory as it stands today. Because of its introductory rather than exhaustive nature many results are only mentioned in passing rather than being given the space they deserve.

A stranger-than-fiction true story of the early career of Edward D. Wood, Jr., the undisputed "worst movie director of all time," Tim Burton's ED WOOD is nevertheless a delightful, zany, and ultimately moving film. Wood was the auteur behind GLEN OR GLENDA? (1953) and PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE (1959), and it is during the making of these two no-budget flicks that Wood is profiled. His friendship with the aging, drug-addicted, former film star Bela Lugosi–who he cast in his movies–is one of the most poignant characters ever portrayed on film…..

Advances in Library Administration and Organization, Volume 22 By James M Nyce, Edward D Garten, Delmus E Williams
Publisher: JAI Press | 2005-07-20 | ISBN: 0762311959 | Pages: 269 | PDF | 1.64 MB

This volume of Advances in Library Administration and Organization offers papers of interest to practitioners and researchers in the library community throughout the world.. All of the papers in one way or another address the tension between what researchers can deliver, what they define as reputable knowledge, and what library practitioners need to know "to get the job done". While these papers differ from each other by problem, scale, methodology and theory, one question "What can science tell us about practice?" unites them all. These papers include a discussion of the principles that underlie collection development, two papers that critically examine the relation between distance learning and on site library service and two more papers that use the notion of sense making to look at what the terms leadership and public space mean when we talk about libraries.

This guy certainly knows his stuff. And the book will find a place on my bookshelf for the foreseeable future. I certainly learned a great deal from reading it (part of my job is to check exam papers). This is not a reference book. It is designed to be read cover-to-cover - and that's the way I tackled it. I did manage to read the whole thing which - I guess - is testiment to the title's readability. The bad points? It's American (I'm British), the author is a bit pompous (most people who write about grammar are), and the examples could have been much clearer and better selected. As a computer scientist the inconsistencies in English grammer drive me mad - but that's not the fault of the author.
