After the incredible success of their "Doctorin' the Tardis" single in 1988 (better known as that theme from Dr. Who), Drummond and Cauty had plenty of money to hire talented musicians (instead of merely sampling them, as on their early recordings). The White Room is the result, an album bursting with hit singles that nevertheless flows as well as any concept album. Often overlooked as a classic from the acid house era (mostly because of the KLF's retirement one year later), The White Room represents the commercial and artistic peak of late-'80s acid-house.

For George Benson's second CTI project, producer Creed Taylor and arranger Don Sebesky successfully place the guitarist in a Spanish-flavored setting full of flamenco flourishes, brass fanfares, moody woodwinds and such. The idea works best on "California Dreamin'" (whose chords are based on Andalusian harmonies), where, driven by Jay Berliner's exciting Spanish rhythm guitar, Benson comes through with some terrifically inspired playing.

It had been a decade since the world last heard from the Corrs. In the ten years after the turn of the millennium, the sonic landscape – which had been favorable to the sibling quartet's soothing grown-up music – changed. Adult contemporary wasn't as clearly defined, considering Adele, Eminem, and Muse could all be heard on the same radio stations. And so with their sixth album, White Light, the Corrs stuck with the same reliable formula that served them so well in Europe for much of the early aughts. Straightforward, yearning, and honey-hooked, their comeback is a pleasing collection of pop/rock with their signature Irish folk elements woven throughout…

Brian White & Justice is the Bad Company (Brian Howe years) of the Christian market. There are no fillers on this CD, just great AOR to listen to all the way through.
