Several months after the innovative remake of "You Keep Me Hanging On," England's answer to Vanilla Fudge was this early version of Deep Purple, which featured vocalist Rod Evans, and bassist Nick Simper, along with mainstays Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord, and Ian Paice. This, their second album, followed on the heels of "Hush," a dynamic arrangement of a Joe South tune, far removed from the flavor of one of his own hits, "Walk a Mile in My Shoes." Four months later, this album's cover of Neil Diamond's Top 25, 1967 gem "Kentucky Woman," went Top 40 for Deep Purple. Also like Vanilla Fudge, the group's own originals were creative, thought-provoking, but not nearly as interesting as their take on cover tunes…

"The Book of Taliesyn" is the second studio album by English rock band Deep Purple, recorded only three months after Shades of Deep Purple. he structure of the album is similar to that of their debut, with four original songs and three rearranged covers, although the tracks are longer, the arrangements more complex and the sound more polished than on Shades of Deep Purple. The music style is a mix of psychedelic rock, progressive rock and hard rock, with several inserts of classical music arranged by the band's keyboard player Jon Lord.

Ian Gillan (born 19 August 1945) is an English singer and songwriter. He originally found commercial success in 1969, as the lead singer and lyricist for Deep Purple . On leaving Deep Purple in 1973, Gillan subsequently formed The Ian Gillan Band (around late 1975/early 76.) and the band simply called Gillan in 1978.Then after a spell with Black Sabbath , Gillan re-joined a reunited Deep Purple in 1984.

Live recordings from Deep Purple 1976 tour that Tommy Bolin and Glenn Hughes belonged, recorded on the main which was held the California Long Beach Arena performances on February 27. Also will be included from the concert in the same year, which was held in Springfield, MA on January 26. From the source was used a open-reel tape that was recorded for BBC program "King Biscuit Flower Hour" to master. It has been the latest digital remastering. The performance voila to due to Glenn Hughes and Tommy Bolin, because seems to two of them were a dangerous state in the drug addiction at that time. Noteworthy, it would be vocal of David Coverdale. However, after this, the band held a British performances in March, and they broke up at Liverpool. After the performances end, Coverdale told to Jon Lord to quit in tears, and Ian Paice also lasted him.
