The Crosby-Nash subset of CSNY carried with it much of the charm and harmony of the larger group, and together and apart the two singers mined that appeal for several gold albums, especially in the first couple of years after the breakup of CSNY in 1970. They even inspired bootleggers, who released A Very Stoney Evening, drawn from one of their 1971 shows. Hence the title of this belated official release, drawn from a different show at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles on October 10.

Label: Atlantic/SD 7220 | Release: 1972 | Genre: Country-Folk

Essential: a masterpiece of rock music.
This self-titled release is one of – if not arguably the – most impressive side project to arise from CSN. Taken beyond face value, Graham Nash/David Crosby is a direct reflection, if not an extension, of the musical and personal relationship between its co-creators. Likewise, the results remain true, enhancing rather than detracting from the very individualistic styles of Crosby and Nash.

The best elements of each are readily available here, punctuated at every turn by their complicated vocal arrangements and air-lock harmonies. In the wake of the enormous successes garnered by the albums Crosby Stills & Nash, Déja Vu, and Four Way Street, the principal members were essentially given carte blanche studio access to pursue solo projects as well.

Waterbrothers begins as a David Crosby and Graham Nash performance before they introduce an old friend who goes by the name of Neil Young. This was a show as part of a Sheriff Hongisto Prisoner's Benefit, done at the Winterland in San Francisco, California on 26 March, 1972. This recording is directly from the on-air broadcast on KSAN-FM, so there is a point where you will hear the announcer but he does not interrupt any songs. This is not only a historical document of the music of Crosby, Nash & Young, but a wonderful document of Bay Area radio broadcast history.

This European import is, in actuality, a pirated version of David Crosby and Graham Nash's 1975 release Wind On The Water – which was out of print on compact disc throughout the late ‘90s.
In regards to the contents, Wind On The Water is definitely one of the duo's best, second only to their flawless debut collaborative effort Crosby/Nash (1971).

David Crosby & Graham Nash - Crosby-Nash. Live (1977) {2000 MCA Remaster}

At the time of its original release in November of 1977, Live was a disappointment. As a single LP in the wake of Wind on the Water and Whistling Down the Wire, it seemed a backhanded insult to this duo, who had a lengthy and illustrious history (on the other hand, ABC Records, who released it, was virtually out of business at the time). The music also seemed somewhat perfunctory, and the content offered almost no recent material, just an odd choice of older songs. The 2000-vintage CD fixed some of those problems, adding two key songs and improving Live in just about every way possible.

CSN is an official 4CD box set by David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, commonly known as the trio Crosby, Stills & Nash. Released in 1991, it focuses on CSN as a group and sometimes Y (Neil Young) plus some of their solo material, Stills' Manassas project and the Crosby/Nash collaborations. This was released by Atlantic.
