This release is titled as Elizebathan Consort Music, Vol II and we have already savoured the flavours of that previously immensely successful release which reads like a roll-call from the 'greats' of English 16th century music. This time Jordi Savall and his splendid Hesperion XXI have devoted a whole CD to the talents of Anthony Holborne, a rather obscure figure but one who evidently was held in great esteem in those days.
The long-awaited 11-CD box set of Braxton's interpretations of the Charlie Parker songbook. Very limited number of advanced copies. Braxton’s hard-swinging Charlie Parker Project, recorded in 1993 with a brilliant band including two geniuses since deceased—trumpeter Paul Smoker and pianist Misha Mengelberg—expands beyond its original two-CD form into a 11-CD box on New Braxton House, the imprint operated by Braxton’s Tri-Centric Foundation. The notion of listening to everything in sequence, including numerous versions of the same tunes, admittedly is daunting, but this is a set that you can drop into literally anywhere and be swept away instantly.
Anthony has returned this time with a hard rocking blues masterpiece! Fans of the power trio sound will love the heavy guitar and amazing solo's that seem to make there way into every song! Starting off with Turn It Up the mood is set with what will be one of the bluesman's best CD's in years! Gomes blues fans will not be disappointed as he gets his blues on with such songs as Whiskey Train and The Blues Ain't The Blues No More! Clearly Anthony is "BETTER THAN BACK" with this high energy CD!
