This 3 CD set released by EMI to coincide with Cliff’s 75th Birthday tour. As the title says, this set contains 75 tracks covering Cliff’s career. Yes, it’s another ‘best of’ but this set contains 4 of Cliff’s rarer tracks “Golden” “21st Century Christmas”, a remake of “Move It”, and “Thank You For A Lifetime”. Celebrating his 56th anniversary in the music business this year, Cliff Richard is indisputably Britain’s all-time greatest hit-maker the ultimate pop star! No other UK band or solo artist is even close to equalling his 100 album releases, 123 single hits, or can claim to have occupied a place in our charts for the equivalent of over 20 years.

Now You See Me, Now You Don't is a rock gospel album by English singer Cliff Richard released in August 1982 on the EMI label. It reached No. 4 in the UK albums chart, No. 1 in Denmark, No. 21 in Australia and No. 19 in New Zealand. It was certified Gold in the UK. The lead single from the album, "The Only Way Out" was released in July 1982, and following on from the top 5 successes of Richard's previous singles "Wired for Sound" and "Daddy's Home", it managed to reach No. 10 in the UK Singles Chart. With this foundation, the album peaked at No. 4 on debut in early September - matching Richard's previous two studio albums. However the album did not receive a significant chart boost from the follow-up singles. The next single "Where Do We Go from Here" was released in September, but failed to have much impact, only managing to reach No. 60. In Germany, "It Has to Be You, It Has to Be Me" was released as a single instead, and did a little better, reaching number 36 in a five-week chart run.

This two-for-one pairing of two albums reminds listeners that Cliff Richard could still kick out the jams even into his forties (imagine, a rocker turning 40 – how revolutionary that seemed at the time!). Rock 'n' Roll Silver and The Rock Connection were originally recorded and released during 1983-1984, but never made so much sense as when they were paired together here. Rock 'n' Roll Silver was initially issued as part of the larger Silver project, marking Richard's 25th year in rock & roll. Working with a stripped-down band, the set caught Richard returning to his roots to fire out impassioned versions of the songs that moved him when he first cut "Move It" – things like "Lucille," "Tutti Frutti," "Be-Bop-A-Lula," and "Teddy Bear." There were also surprisingly strong revivals of past Richard hits "It'll Be Me" and "Move It" itself, and the result was one of Richard's most enjoyable albums ever.

… during six decades, Cliff Richard has charted many singles, and holds the record (with Elvis Presley) as the only act to make the UK singles charts in all of its decades (1950s–2000s). He is the only singer to have had a number one single in the UK in five consecutive decades between the 1950s and the 1990s. If he can chart a single at number one in 2009 he will continue this record to six decades. On the British charts, Richard has had more than 130 singles, albums and EPs make the top 20, more than any other artist. He has sold more than 260 million records.
"Slava": The Complete EMI Recordings of Mstislav Rostropovich (CD 18)

"Slava" - The Complete EMI Recordings of Mstislav Rostropovich
Classical | EAC (APE & CUE) | 18 of 26 | 172 MB

While this collection brings together all the standard tunes Mstislav Rostropovich recorded for EMI Classics, the "Russian" recordings are deservedly the headline grabbers. World premieres abound, from a searing account of Prokofiev's Cello Sonata with Sviatoslav Richter to an especially probing Shostakovich Second Cello Concerto, both given in the presence of the composers. Benjamin Britten, meanwhile, conducts his own Cello Symphony in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire. At the same time, Lutoslawski's Cello Concerto is simply staggering in its virtuosity and depth of musical feeling, as is its companion piece, the concerto Tout un monde lointain by Henri Dutilleux. Both are Rostropovich commissions. There are relative rarities too, in the Richard Strauss' Cello Sonata, some "lollipops" of Popper, Scriabin and Debussy, as well as the wonderful interpretation of the Miaskovsky's Cello Concerto. And there's a lot more. As the collection continues, dedications emerge from Russian composers far and wide. Boris Tchaikovsky gets a whole disc, with a Suite and a sizeable Concerto, while there are works from Tischenko and Weinberg. Shostakovich accompanies Rostropovich in the Cello Sonata, while yet more Russian contemporary composers, namely Ustvolskaya and Schnittke, are championed through the cellist.

This is the reincarnation of the same post brought earlier by slcn. Unfortunately, it's noteworthy debut was brutally cut short by a bandit of marauding trolls. Without further ado, a big shoutout of thanks goes out to slcn and many other contributors, without whose support this would not have been possible.

Hard Rock

At a time when pop was dominated by dance music and pop-metal, Guns N' Roses brought raw, ugly rock & roll crashing back into the charts. They were not nice boys; nice boys don't play rock & roll. They were ugly, misogynistic, and violent; they were also funny, vulnerable, and occasionally sensitive, as their breakthrough hit, "Sweet Child O' Mine," showed. While Slash and Izzy Stradlin ferociously spit out dueling guitar riffs worthy of Aerosmith or the Stones, Axl Rose screeched out his tales of sex, drugs, and apathy in the big city…
