Tom Jobim was the originator of the new Bossa Nova beat in Brazil in the late '50s and it was Joao Gilberto that first mastered the guitar technique to introduce it to the world in 1958. They both said that Milton Nascimento was the only singer that could reach the original pitch of the compositions and so it is entirely fitting that he has teamed up here with Tom's son Paulo and grandson Daniel for a recording session to celebrate both Tom Jobim and the anniversary of his invention of the Bossa Nova. Mixing songs by Tom Jobim, Milton Nascimento and Daniel Jobim, this is a true master class in the art of the Bossa and a new milestone in Brazilian music.

Stan Getz with his sax, accompanied by Kenny Barron (piano), George Mraz (bass) and Victor Lewis (drums) recorded these jazz sessions in March 1989 (two years before his death), in Hollywood, for the label A & M of his friend Herb Alpert. But Alpert was more interested then launching another orchestral production by Getz, 'Apasionado', and left in the drawer that work. Over the years Alpert rediscovered the 'lost sessions', dedicated to bossas and ballads, and resolved to publish in 2003. Getz played his best music in the last years of his life and in this album plays with an unusual force and sweetness.

'Samba Jazz & Outras Bossas' is an album from Joyce in collaboration with her husband Tutty Moreno. With 'Samba Jazz & Outras Bossas' Joyce and Tutty have turned to their samba-jazz roots to create an album that is influenced by the golden-era of bossa-nova and US jazz from the 60s. All tracks feature Joyce on vocals for a mix of high-octane samba-jazz and ethereal bossas with either full lyrics or samba-scats; the latter seeing Joyce hark back to classic tracks such as 'Feminina'; the album contains a wonderful new version of the scat-anthem 'Magica'.
'Samba Jazz & Outras Bossas' was produced by Joyce and Tutty themselves and marks a milestone - 30 years - of them working together……….

Souza's voice is one of elegant restraint and sensuousness. Hers is not an overpowering vocal presence, but rather, a very inviting one. She seduces deliciously with gentleness and whisper-to-the mic sultriness. That feeling is pervasive across an interesting selection of ballads, bossas (Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Dindi"), softer swing ("Delectable You," "Full Moon") and soft-rock grooves ("Night Demon").
