Like many of the black blues and jazz musicians of his generation, Memphis Slim found both an audience and a home in Europe for the last 20-plus years of his life, basing himself in Paris beginning in 1962 and remaining there until his death in 1988. In that span he recorded an astounding 50 or so albums, not including the various recordings of his live performances that still continue to surface.

Paul Butterfield was the first white harmonica player to develop a style original and powerful enough to place him in the pantheon of true blues greats. It's impossible to overestimate the importance of the doors Butterfield opened: before he came to prominence, white American musicians treated the blues with cautious respect, afraid of coming off as inauthentic. This collection includes the studio tracks recorded between 1965 and 1971.

Tokyo Story (1953)
A Film by Yasujirô Ozu
2xDVD9 | VIDEO_TS | NTSC 4:3 | Cover + Disc Scans | 02:16:01 | 14,81 Gb
Audio: Japanese AC3 1.0 @ 192 Kbps | Subtitles: English
Genre: Drama | The Criterion Collection #217

Yasujiro Ozu’s Tokyo Story (Tokyo Monogatari) follows an aging couple, Tomi and Sukichi, on their journey from their rural village to visit their two married children in bustling, postwar Tokyo. Their reception is disappointing: too busy to entertain them, their children send them off to a health spa. After Tomi falls ill she and Sukichi return home, while the children, grief-stricken, hasten to be with her. From a simple tale unfolds one of the greatest of all Japanese films. Starring Ozu regulars Chishu Ryu and Setsuko Hara, the film reprises one of the director’s favorite themes—that of generational conflict—in a way that is quintessentially Japanese and yet so universal in its appeal that it continues to resonate as one of cinema’s greatest masterpieces.
Otis Rush - Trouble, Troubles: The Sonet Blues Story (2005, recorded 1977) [repost]

Otis Rush - Trouble, Troubles: The Sonet Blues Story (2005, recorded 1977)
Electric Blues | FLAC image, cue, log | artwork w/booklet | ~370 MB (3%)
Label: Universal Music AB, 986 925-9

This release makes big amends. Firstly this is the album as it was originally released with 2 outtakes. Secondly Otis Rush's vocals and guitar work stand out better in a less cluttered musical environment. This release is of the original album (with a couple bonus alternate takes) without all the overdubbing, and is a vast improvement over the Alligator version. Considering his very inconsistent discography, you can put this one in the "good" column, but there are several Otis Rush albums you should own before this one.
