Be There is the second single from UNKLE's 1998 album Psyence Fiction. While U.N.K.L.E. was the brainchild of James Lavelle, they were without initials and they became UNKLE when DJ Shadow become part of the group for this album. For this mix of "Be There", it would feature vocals from Ian Taylor of The Stone Roses. The version with Taylor would then be remixed by Underdog. The new mix of "The Knock" was done by Noel Gallagher and featured then-Metallica member Jason Newsted on bass and Theremin.

The Unknown is saxophonist/composer Phillip Johnston's soundtrack to the 1927 silent film of the same name. As with much of Johnston's other work, the music here is a witty, often changing mix of sounds and styles from various eras. Appropriately, there is an emphasis on various film music archetypes, although not just from the silent film era, but from more modern times, too. The tracks weave in and out of frantic, polka-driven chase-scene themes, genteel waltzes, nostalgic parlor-room piano sections, sultry noir-jazz passages, and more. Johnston also adds in more modern elements, from dissonant horn harmonies and free-leaning improvisation to a few rock-oriented rhythms and even some electronic/synthesizer touches.

II BIG has been performing their original hard rock for years, opening for national acts such as Foghat, Loverboy, and Ricky Skaggs. Based around guitarist/songwriter Eddy Ottenstein, the band also consists of guitarist/singer Aubrey Hansen, keyboardist Tom Hansen, bassist Steve Lamun, and drummer Ken Ingels. Ottenstein performed for years as a touring musician with Van Morrison, Boz Skaggs, Steve Miller, and the Grateful Dead, among others. The band's popularity in touring circles has made them favorites among fans of classic rock, and they have continued to release albums bearing the vintage rock sound that has made them such a reliable live act. ~ Bradley Torreano

Although the name may not be familiar to many, Big Boy Pete (aka Pete Miller) has been flogging around the music scene for nearly five decades. He first played in a rock & roll band called the Offbeats, who recorded an EP in 1958, and in 1961, he joined the beat group Peter Jay & the Jaywalkers. With the Jaywalkers, he recorded a number of singles, which were produced by Joe Meek, from whom Pete learned many new and innovative recording techniques. In 1965, he quit the band to concentrate on recording solo projects, and turned to session work to support his recording career. During this period, he became a part-time member of the legendary underground freakbeat band the News, while continuing to write songs for Britain's major publishing houses…

Jimi Hendrix once asked the musical question “Are You Experienced?” which I’m sure if he heard just one of these eleven strong super cuts or even a few bars of any, he would have his answer. Experience is the operative word, when it comes to talkin’ ‘bout this group of veteran session and sidemen known as Big Shoes. Their name was derived from their guiding light drummer and producer Andy Peake, who perhaps just for grins, initially recruited them as a tribute band to Little Feat. They then proceeded to cause happy feet for all who heard and danced to them live around Nashville and Muscle Shoals, the two places this set was recorded. I’m telling’ ya, these Flagg Brothers got some hip boots on, ‘cause they are tighter than a crabs ass (watertight). Seriously, Big Shoes puts enough rhythm into their blues, to turn Herman Munster into Fred Astaire.
