This album is John's tribute to one of his blues heroes, the late, great Freddie King. King was a blues guitar pioneer from the mid-50's through to his tragically early death in the mid-70's and he influenced everyone from Peter Green to Dave Edmunds to Stevie Ray Vaughan and probably most of all Eric Clapton, who produced and played on King's final album. In The Palace Of The King features John Mayall's take on his personal selection of Freddie King favorites and is a fabulous combination of two true blues legends.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, Paul Lamb and the King Snakes" the announcer introduces the band for an evening of traditional and rocking blues. More than that this is a simply outstanding concert recorded live at one of the truly iconic venues, and Paul and his band serve up as good a set of blues as you will ever hear. Their last album was a set of late night blues "After Hours", well received it was as well, but here in a large venue the full King Snakes show is to be heard, over eleven songs five of which are self written, the others some very well chosen covers that suit the band perfectly.

The fourteenth and final show from the 1995 European tour – The second night at the Royal Albert Hall. While waiting for definitive notes from Sid the Smith, we continue to use Stormy’s show notes. His personal highlights were Dinosaur, a “nice” One Time, good Soundscape intro and B’Boom, Thrakking, and Heartbeat. Overall a good show.

Unlucky for some, the thirteenth show from the 1995 European Tour – We find ourselves in dear old Blighty, the first of two nights at The Royal Albert Hall. While waiting for definitive notes from Sid the Smith, we continue to use Mr Stormy’s show notes. His personal highlights were a “stomping” Red, B’Boom, Thrakking (with RF’s playing at 3.22 reminding him of the ambient bit of Fracture before the refrain), VROOOM VROOOM also “stomping”, The Talking Drum “best of the tour”. Overall, a really good show.

‘With both the Genesis Revisited tour and album I feel I've given people something they had really wanted for a long time’ says legendary guitarist Steve Hackett, and that certainly seemed to be the case when he released ‘Genesis Revisited II’ in October 2012. Met with a vociferous and fantastic response from fans and critics alike, it was clear that there was an appetite for these classic songs, with the album reaching the number 26 spot in the UK National Album Charts…
