‘Discretion’ is the brand new album by pioneering guitar legend Robert Fripp and flautist/saxophonist Theo Travis made available for Bowers & Wilkins Society of Sound in stunning 24 bit high quality digital format. The music follows on from the duo’s previous album releases and combines almost telepathic interplay with a deep understanding of musical texture and space, the building of long slow melodies, and the creation of slowly shifting harmonic soundscapes.

As good as they are on their records, the Dubliners are essentially performance artists who are at their best in front of an audience – in this case an extraordinarily large one, doing most of their best-known songs (many of which remain identified with them 40 years later). The sound is surprisingly good, and the spirits are overflowing, and the entire record makes a fine follow-up/companion to the mid-'60s In Concert album and the live Finnegan Wakes. It's the tracks off of this album, as much as the studio originals, that have filled up many a compilation on the Dubliners in the decades since.

The title of The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966 Concert is a nod to the fact that the famous bootleg known as The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert was actually recorded at the Manchester Free Trade Hall on May 17, 1966. The historical record was corrected when the concert was released as the second installment in Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series in 1998 (it's labeled the fourth volume, but the first three editions were all rounded up in a 1991 box), so when it came to release a sampler album from the mammoth 36-disc set The 1966 Live Recordings, the only option was to release The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966 Concert, a show given on May 26, 1996. This double-disc set follows the same contours of the Manchester Free Trade Hall show…

The Who's Live at the Royal Albert Hall captures a charity concert for a cancer organization the reunited group performed in November of 2000. Given the band's spotty track record in their farewell tours and reunions of the '80s and '90s, it's easy for some longtime fans to be skeptical of the musical merits of the triple-disc hybrid SACD release of this concert, but this is an exceptional reunion concert, finding the band at their strongest since their early-'80s breakup. Supported by drummer Zak Starkey and longtime keyboardist John "Rabbit" Bundrick, Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, and John Entwistle (in one of his last major concerts) sound reinvigorated, playing such standards as "I Can't Explain" and "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere" with vigor and energy, as if they haven't played them countless times.

The fourteenth and final show from the 1995 European tour – The second night at the Royal Albert Hall. While waiting for definitive notes from Sid the Smith, we continue to use Stormy’s show notes. His personal highlights were Dinosaur, a “nice” One Time, good Soundscape intro and B’Boom, Thrakking, and Heartbeat. Overall a good show.
