AS I AM: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF DJ AM covers the late, great mash-up pioneer's entire life from seed to sorrow: his meteoric rise to become the first million dollar DJ in the United States, and his incredibly storied personal life, as well, which includes a long-running struggle with addiction, titanic efforts to help others in recovery, tabloid romances with assorted models and actresses, endorsement deals with Nike, Pepsi, T-Mobile and Activision, and surviving, along with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, a fiery plane crash a little less than a year before his controversial and untimely death in 2009.

"Take Me As I Am" is a unique offering from Christopher Cross, a hybrid of sorts – the songs are instrumentals with choruses to create the lyrical landscape. This is not quite a “guitar” album, but it leaves the listener with no question about his expertise on the subject. Two very special songs are “Roberta," dedicated to Christopher’s mentor, Joni Mitchell, and “Truth” with a lyric by Rob Meurer, one of the last songs Rob wrote before his tragic passing. This song is sung as a duet with Gigi Worth, a name that will be familiar to Christopher’s fans. Gigi and Rob were also very close, which makes her performance on this track all the more meaningful.

'Same As I Ever Have Been' is Patershuk's most organic and confident collection of songs yet. With veteran roots musician Steve Dawson returning to produce and contribute some tasteful string work, it's easy to hear how much Matt has grown as a performer since his last record, 'I Was So Fond Of You'. This time around, Patershuk and Dawson met in Vancouver at Bryan Adams' acoustically perfect Warehouse Studio to hunker down for a few days and record an albums' worth of new roots gems. Like all of Dawson's productions, Matt's new songs were recorded with all of the musicians playing together in the same room. This created an intimate vibe that allowed the musicians to play off of one another to create some truly magical and unanticipated moments.

The story of Metal Blade Records is the story of Brian Slagel-a metal-obsessed Southern California kid who launched a fanzine and landed a record store job before cobbling together what he assumed would be a one-off compilation of fledgling bands from the L.A. scene. Released in 1982, the Metal Massacre LP included the debut recordings of local groups such as Steeler, Malice, Ratt, and Metallica. In the wake of the album's unexpected success Slagel virtually stumbled into creating a proper record label, issuing the first releases by Bitch, Armored Saint, and Slayer the following year.
