The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth album by the English rock band Pink Floyd. Originally released on 1 March 1973, on the label Harvest, it built on ideas explored in the band's earlier recordings and live shows, but departs from instrumental thematic by founding member Syd Barrett. The album explores themes including conflict, greed, the passage of time, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by Barrett's deteriorating mental state. The Dark Side of the Moon was an immediate success; it topped the Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart for a week and remained in the chart for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988…

The late Syd Barrett’s name passed into rock folklore when he quit Pink Floyd in 1968 and after two extraordinary but erratic solo albums, disappeared from music altogether amid rumours of a drug-induced breakdown. Pink Floyd went onto worldwide fame, but the absent Syd remained painfully present in their music and lyrics, most famously with Wish You Were Here and Shine On You Crazy Diamond. John Edginton’s documentary “The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story” tells the full, bizarre, tragic, but also celebratory story of Syd Barrett with contributions from friends, managers, lovers and of course the members of Pink Floyd – Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright.

"On this concert film we have tried to cover a good selection from Pink Floyd's oeuvre, performed with our newly redesigned light show. However there's so much that Pink Floyd wrote and many of their songs are simply so long that we can only present a selection of their total output. We hope that our choice includes much of their very best work..

Animals is the tenth studio album by English progressive rock group Pink Floyd, released in January 1977. A concept album, it provides a scathing critique of the social-political conditions of late 1970s Britain, and presents a marked change in musical style from their earlier work. Animals was recorded at the band's studio, Britannia Row, in London, but its production was punctuated by the early signs of discord that several years later would culminate in keyboardist Richard Wright leaving the band. The album's cover image, a pig floating between two chimneys on Battersea Power Station, was conceived by bassist and writer Roger Waters, and photographed by long-time collaborators Hipgnosis…

Tribute albums are always a hit and miss affair. Sadly this latest Pink Floyd tribute album falls mostly in the miss area. The majority of the songs on offer are little more than low quality carbon copies of the originals with little to no creative interpretations added. There is a wide range of Pink Floyd songs covered in the album. Songs span from Pink Floyd’s hits such as Money covered by The Pineapple Thief to more obscure tunes such as The Nile Song (from the soundtrack to the film More) covered by The Panthers and Meddle’s Fearless covered by Low. Unfortunately in each case the songs are so similar to the original versions that they sound like they were performed by a Pink Floyd cover band. And in the case of Shine on you crazy diamond covered by the Australian Pink Floyd Show, it actually was performed by a cover band. As a result the album becomes rather dull and pointless and providing no reason to listen to it instead of listening to Pink Floyd playing their music.
