At just 19 years, Alice Phoebe Lou has gone from South Africa on a trip she made and the most famous street musician in Berlin within a short time this year for SXSW in Austin, the CMJ in New York, The Great Escape in Brighton and the TED Global event in London led. In every free minute she was working on her debut album 'Orbit' and its unused sound their personal development is nothing after. Taken with musician friends around the world, you can hear the multilayered indie folk with the intuitive feeling for blues and jazz, and the right touch of electronics all the passion that has gone into this album.

Rock star opulence came to an explosive head in 1973 when Alice Cooper and company hit #1 on the U.S. and worldwide charts with Billion Dollar Babies, their sixth and most successful album. Produced by Bob Ezrin, it is also one of the best rock n roll records of all time, and the subsequent tour became their biggest rock production to date. Capitalizing on the albums themes of good-old decadence and horror, the show climaxed with a guillotine execution of Alice. The album and the tour catapulted the band into the worlds preeminent pied pipers of teenage trash culture.

Lou Donaldson has long been an excellent bop altoist influenced by Charlie Parker, but with a more blues-based style of his own. His distinctive tone has been heard in a variety of small group settings, and he has recorded dozens of worthy and spirited sets throughout the years. His bluesy style was easily transferable to soul-jazz, and he sounded most original in that context. Swing And Soul is a Donaldson album from 1957 that features his most famous quintet consisting of Herman Foster on piano, Peck Morrison on bass, Dave Bailey on drums and Ray Barretto on congas.

Contemporary music is alive and well in innumerable forms and genres, and the flexibility and colorful sonorities of the flute have attracted composers of every style. This collection of beautiful chamber music with flute is performed by award-winning soloist Alice K. Dade and includes four premiere recordings. These take us from Aaron Jay Kerniss Air, the composers love letter in music, via the youthful memories of Michael Fines Skipping Stones, the Baroque and jazz elements in Noam Elkies E Sonata and the breathtaking mountain scenery of Jennifer Margaret Barkers Na Tri Peathraichan, to the novel and mysterious musical mirroring of Dan Colemans Pavanes and Symmetries, This is a program to tease the imagination and stimulate the senses.

Recorded in 1960, Sunny Side Up features alto master Lou Donaldson paired with a fine cadre of up-and-coming sidemen. In particular, trumpeter Bill Hardman and pianist Duke Pearson contribute a healthy dose of soul to the arrangements, which, combined with rock solid drumming from Al Harewood and tight bass work from Sam Jones and Laymon Jackson, are highlights of this particularly fine album.
