Well played, fresh sounding, and highly energetic, Asia's Live in Moscow proved to be their best on-stage album, captured during their 1990 European tour. Featuring John Wetton, Carl Palmer, Geoff Downes, and newcomer Pat Thrall (most notably from the Pat Travers Band) replacing Steve Howe on guitar, the band sounds enthusiastically sharp where it matters most. Howe's absence is indeed apparent, but the band comes through on the biggies like "Heat of the Moment" and "Only Time Will Tell," while giving secondary hits like "Don't Cry," "Go," and "Time Again" new life. Geoff Downes teases the audience throughout his keyboard solo, playing an acoustical version of "Video Killed the Radio Star" from his days with the Buggles…

When Asia reunited in 1990, they kicked off their tour with a concert in Nottingham, England, which was eventually released as a promo-only CD called Now. Seven years later, Now: Nottingham Live was officially released, and by that time their audience had dwindled to just hardcore devotees – in other words, anyone with an interest in the band will find something on Now to enjoy, whether it's the intricate arrangements or the winding guitar solos. Even so, they will have to admit that the performance is tentative, with the members attempting to readjust to the natural rhythms of playing together. So while it may be a historic concert for Asia, it doesn't necessarily capture them at their best.

The concert was originally recorded for broadcast on ITV and released here for the first time. The high quality recording has been remastered and are featured both on a DVD and audio CD alongside extended notes, new interviews, imagery and memorabilia. Rock history records Asia as the first super group of the '80s, a leviathan that sold more than six million copies of it's eponymous first album in little more than a year thanks to a combination of classic radio-friendly pop songs and virtuoso musicianship.

Asia are an English rock group formed in 1981. The band was labelled a supergroup as it included former members of several veteran progressive rock bands, namely John Wetton (formerly in King Crimson, Uriah Heep, U.K., Roxy Music and Wishbone Ash), Geoff Downes (formerly in Yes and The Buggles), Steve Howe (formerly in Yes) and Carl Palmer (formerly in The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Atomic Rooster, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer). The band has been through multiple line-up changes in its history, but the current line-up is a reunion of that original line-up. A second band, called Asia Featuring John Payne, exists in parallel as a continuation of a pre-2006 Asia line-up.
