The technically proficient guitar playing of John Petrucci elevated Dream Theater to the upper echelons of contemporary heavy metal. While its lineup has continuously evolved, the Long Island-based quintet has consistently delivered sharp-edged music…
EBX is the title given to retrospective box sets from Erasure, released in the UK by Mute Records in 1999 and 2001. Four volumes of EBX have been released : both EBX 1 and EBX 2 were released in 1999, then EBX 3 and EBX 4 were out in 2001. Each set presents, in chronological order, five singles released by Erasure, beginning with their debut in 1986 up to 1992 (twenty singles in all). Although cover art was altered (specifically for the sets), the track listings represent all music originally found on the UK versions of their singles (including all remixes and B-sides, found on cassette and CD singles, as well as 12 inch singles).
Witthüser & Westrupp was a German folk duo consisting of Bernd Witthüser (born 29 April 1944), guitar, mandolin and Walter Westrupp (12 February 1946) guitar, ukulele, trombone, harmonium, psalter and many other instruments. The band was formed in June 1969 as "W&W's pop cabaret", singing German texts in a special way. In 1970 the name changed to "Witthüser & Westrupp".wikipedia
The most versatile of the R&B-steeped bar bands that played the club circuit in the Pacific Northwest in the early '60s, Paul Revere & the Raiders at their best somehow managed to merge Spike Jones, King Curtis, James Brown, the Byrds, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Kinks, and the Rolling Stones into one rollicking pop pastiche. They also had energy, drive, and ambition, and they knew how – and were willing – to play the game. This three-disc, 66-track set collects all of the singles, both A- and B-sides, the group released for Columbia Records between 1963 and 1975.
Kim Wilde's number one cover of the Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On" gave her a number one hit back in 1987, but she gained chart life five years earlier with the glitzy bounce of "Kids in America," allied with the new decade's keyboard-laden pop sound and peaking at number 25 on Billboard's Top 40. The Singles Collection 1981-1993 is easily the most opportune avenue available to investigate the rest of Wilde's material. While video may have been her best friend throughout her career, sporting her attractive looks and modest Brit attitude, Wilde's music does contain some pleasing dance hooks and catchy melodies. "Another Step (Closer to You)" and "Love Is Holy" are bright and lively with typical yet congenial pop melodies, while "You Came" mixes a clean, keyboard-aided backdrop to Wilde's sheer vocal style. "Chequered Love" and "Water on Glass" aren't genius, but their arrant pop melodies and simplistic beats are anything but standstill.
