Recorded live at Klooks Kleek, Hampstead, London on Monday 7th December 1964

John Mayall's debut album, recorded live in December 1964, is a little unjustly overlooked, as it was recorded shortly before the first of the famous guitarists schooled in the Bluesbreakers (Eric Clapton) joined the band…

Ten New Songs is Leonard Cohen's tenth studio album, released in 2001. It was co-written and produced by Sharon Robinson. She played all the instruments except Bob Metzger's guitar on 'In My Secret Life'. The album peaked at #143 on the Billboard list, #4 in Canada (where it went platinum), #1 in Poland (where it went platinum [1] and #1 in Norway. Ten New Songs was the first Cohen album to be recorded and produced digitally, although not in a professional studio, but in Cohen's and Robinson's own home studios in Los Angeles. more..

This album was originally recorded in 1982, but not released until 1998 (I think) as 'Nightwinds Dying'. This is another release of the same album. It contains the tremendous studio version of 'Tango', highlight in the bands concerts, plus some (unreleased) other songs. All in all is this a really great rock album! A must for any fan, and perhaps for everyone?

Laserlight's Eric Clapton & Friends contains the great majority of the stray early sessions that get recycled endlessly on budget-line comps like this. Most of this consists either of live Yardbirds' material and other Yardbirds' oddities, and with guests Jimmy Page, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. None of this is great Clapton but for the Clapton collector an interesting piece of history.

When the original Animals disbanded, Burdon fell under the spell of the times and made a hard left turn into psychedelia, the fruits of which are gathered here. Unfortunately, much of this material sounds indulgent and dated, full of half-spoken vocals, sitars, heavy channel phasing, and all the other bells and whistles of the day. Even if his reach exceeded his grasp, Burdon was always a crafty singer and the best songs here ("San Francisco Nights," "Monterey," "Sky Pilot") have a kind of uplifting nostalgic charm.

This album is a 'best of'…sort of…!! Eric resings these tunes with a new band, so the tempo and production is different than the original 'album/radio' version. This is nonetheless a good album as it features the mainline songs, sung slightly different. Soul and emotion is still there in the tunes.

Rhino has done an incredible job, just as usual! Generally they take recordings that have languished in a corner for too long and give them the treatment they deserve: this means brilliant sequencing on a single disc, equally brilliant liner notes and a nice package, just for good measure!……

There's the Rub is the fifth studio album by rock band Wishbone Ash. It is the first album to feature guitarist/vocalist Laurie Wisefield, who would be a major part of the band's creative direction for the next 11 years. The album is considered by many to be a highpoint of the band's recording career. The title is taken from Shakespeare's Hamlet; "To sleep—perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub." The track "F.U.B.B." caused controversy because of the acronym's meaning ("Fucked Up Beyond Belief") upon the album's release. Moreover, the haunting ballad "Persephone" would go on to become one of the band's most popular live songs…

L'Infonie were born as a Québécois versatile rock commune in 1967 around the initiator Raôul Duguay and the musical chief Walter Boudreau, just along the Québécois "multidisciplinary" music scene in those days. Quite in the vein of late-60s concentrated music essence, mixed with pop, jazz, and classic, they recorded their first creation "Vol. 3" (currently released as an eponymous one) at André Perry Studio and released in 1969. Amazingly, their soundscape had been altered moment by moment - obvious jazz rock / fusion movement and a talented American musician Terry Riley could exert pretty influence upon their second work "Vol. 33 (Mantra)", featuring a sole suite "Mantra" based upon Terry's landmark piece "In C"…

No surprise – in concert was the best way to hear Wishbone Ash, because the studio was just too sterile an environment, at least for their hardest-rocking stuff to take off. Anyone really into the group should own this record.
